8th Ed. Extra 500 pts for Monsters

In our next tourney we have to make a 1250 and 2000 point list.
Each gets 500 points of extra monsters from Storm of Magic

My lists are pretty standard
Slann with TG, block of saurus block of skrox chamos and salamanders

What should I spend my 500 points on, choices are 2 of the below plus a Great Eagle to spend the change

Carnosaur (d3 wounds, 7 Str)
Steg (Impact hits)
Cheapest Dragon (same stats as steg but fly and breath weapon)
Hydra (similar stats with regen and breath weapon)
Some SoM caster (personally I think a rumination slann can use all the dice)

Don't need monsters, they're magic bait

For casters, Truthsayer, Zoat and Dark Emmissary are all excellent choices.
I tend to lean towards Zoat, mainly because A: more in keeping with background and B: a Level 4 Life caster allows you to take other Lores on your Slann (like Light, Death or Shadow). Also, due to his access to the Cataclysm Life spells, you can make terrain or bring entire units back to life with the ultimate.

For yet another option, have you considered a Vamp or Daemon pact? A cheap Loremaster Herald+Horror bunker or a Vamp Lord+Skeleton bunker could be pretty awesome.

Limited by models unfort hence the 5 choices. The skink priest model I have could double as fimir balefiend.

I only play HE and Liz so nothing evil for a pact.
