Ok, ok. It isn't only
old Britons that really think an Empire is something good.
Joke aside: Imperialism didn't only bring order and stability, it did bring death. To millions of innocents whenever they were opposed to the empire's interests. That's not only the British Empire though, it is true for all the empires of that time.
The "order" that empires brought to the world usually meant oppression, the destruction of native culture, robbing natural resources, destroying the livelihood of those areas of the world, and it even created ideas like concentration camps (Boer War for example) and enforced drug traffic (Opium Wars).
It is correct that some of the former colonies did not do well after the Empire went away. That's just natural because they had been put into a new age without warning and without growing into it, and had never been taught how to do anything themselves. Also the empires destroyed whatever order there had been previously.
Nevertheless some of them seem to be just fine, like several states in Oceania, Africa, Asia and both Americas which were previously French, British, German, Spanish, or Portugese territories.
So....yeah. Order may be the correct word, but actually countries like India were pretty orderly already before the Europeans went there.
