Dr Zephy's painting clinic

Thanks for the comments guys!

Since that bastiladon took me 3 weeks to make I decided I was gonna do a quick job next.
Still wanting to learn I decided to try my hands at painting with oils. This changeling I got as a xmas gift was the perfect test subject ^_^

I had a hard time getting my head around the new medium but it was a lot of fun. I wanted to try nmm with oils on the gold but quickly realized it was too much for me so in the end I decided they would be the only bits in acrylic (GSW pure metal pigments btw).

Anyways if you also wanna try out oils I'd recommend the tutorials from vince venturella, james wappel and marco frisoni. Super helpful.

Enjoy!

Hi guys! I recently came back from vacation and decided to get right back into the painting business ^_^

So I painted most of the starblood stalkers as well as my skink starpriest from the battleforce box. I still need to do the chamo skink but I need to decide on the skin color first ^_^

Nicely done! What colours did you use for the skin tone on the skinks?

Hi guys! thanks for the comments on the orks ^_^ !
It's back to the Seraphon this time around as I've finished my bastiladon!
I tried to mess around with some free hand on the scales which I think turned out pretty good.
Also had a ton of fun with the base as I attempted to make some water for the first time.

Enjoy!
ps: the toad is called Trevor

I love the core combo and the your texturing on the bastiladons plates is excellent, really adds visual interest to an otherwise boring surface. Great job!

Hi guys! thanks for the nice comments!

For a change of pace I decided to paint some steampunk dwarves this time. I wanted to go for a quick paint job this time, with some lovecraft arctic horror atmosphere. I'm not supper sold on the bases at the moment as they are a bit bland but I feel I'll get a better opportunity to express myself on the more important characters/boats ^_^

enjoy!

Great work on the KO unit! The weathering/patina on the metal looks very natural. I really like that touch of purple.
