8th Ed. Dealing with warmachines & dwarvern gunlines

Just got my ass handed to me on a plate big time. I'm the first to admit that I am truely *rubbish* at this game, but I'm also really underwhelmed at the units I was using (sauruses and temple guards). Against similar points cost units couldn't hardly get a single hit or wound in, and when I did epic armour saves and ward saves came in... Against dwarves playing watchtower I got crushed, and against a cavelry dark elf list on battleline I got even more crushed (in fact one of my Saurus units lost about 14 models before it even got to strike in combat, by which point there were hardly any left!)

Buffed up dark elfs (let me guess he had cauldron of blood) are not fun.

The person who came up with the idea to give (virtually) an entire army ASF, rerolls to hit AND to wound should have been shot.....slowly.
