Howdy, I was wondering how exactly this nifty little item works. Does it automatically dispel a spell a la a dispel scroll, and then can potentially end the magic phase on a 4+? Or are both results (the dispelling of the spell, and the ending of the magic phase) tied to that one roll of 4+, so that when your enemy casts a spell, you roll a 4+ and then both dispel the spell and end the magic phase?

Your first understanding is the right one

You automatically dispell the spell

Then on a 4+ it ends the magic phase and dispels remains in play spells

So basically it is dispell scroll with a little bit extra if you get a 4+ after dispelling the spell
