As I'm Swedish I need to promote some IKEA hacks.
This is an quite inexpensive letter tray
And then I just sew an case fore it.
Glue some 3x2 round Rare earth magnets from ebay on the bases and done.
Need to ad an pocket fore books to.
I actually LOVE this. How steady are the big miniatures ?Like if you somehow "almost tripped" so the bag falls sideways, do they get off?

It depends on how many magnets you use.
I use three fore my big ones and i think that they are stuck good enough fore me.
I can shake the box pretty hard and I tested now to tap the shelf to the desk and it seems stuck.
What you can do if you want even more safety is to add something to the surface that have more friction.
Fore example spray it whit some primer from an "to far distance" so that you get frosting effect.
Other than that you can put some tape whit more friction ore sand the surface.
My bastiladon in the first pictures are not on the base yet so it only have one magnet so that one will move if I drop it.

Awesome, thanks ! Will do it !
Edit : Where did you buy the bag from ? It simply fits too conveniently with the rest, it's perfect !
I sewed it my self.
It is made of 4 fabric parts a zipper and handle straps.
You sir are impressive !
Looking into a better case solution once I get paint on my guys. Right now looking at just putting a washer in the base and getting a container or two filled with sheet magnet. Like the washer solution since it makes the models more bottom heavy and its a bit cheaper than rare earth magnets.
Talking about storage solutions I'd like to mention this one:

I am probably going to back it, it does look pretty cool.
Its not that complicated could make an pattern if you are interested.
Basically it is just the measurements of the box plus seam allowance.
I'm going to make one more i think starting to grow out of this one.
Fits about 2000p. And I'm getting close to that now.
