Another option could be to check out
http://www.bartertown.com. as they have many things available, even trades, which can come in handy for those with army's/units or other gaming things not wanted anymore just laying around.
Also, like n810 mentioned - ebay has many store venders that sell individual pieces of sprues ( to get around GW's license copyright) which many times can go much cheaper than the box.
As for a list, this is one of mine that I use for fun:
1 skink priest lvl 2 w/ cupped hands
20 saurus warriors w/fc
18 skinks with 2 krox
5 chameleon skinks
1 salamander hunting pack
This list totals exactly 750 points and I've had a lot of fun with it. With this low of points, you probably don't need the cupped hands (I only bring this when opponent has a sorceror - which in my gaming group, there is always one), thus having another 45 points available to spend and you wouldn't have so much points wrapped up in a single character/unit. But, like I mentioned - this was just a fun list I like playing.
When my opponent doesn't have a sorceror, I change up the list a bit and like to play this:
1 saurus scar vet with burning blade of chotec and enchanted shield
1 skink priest (no upgrades)
19 saurus warriors with spear and musician/standard (no champion)
20 skinks with 1 krox
1 slamander hunting pack with extra skink
7 chameleon skinks
This list is exactly 750 points as well. I place the scar vet in the saurus block. The burning blade gives a -2 to targets armour saves and it's a flaming attack to boot! The enchanted shield gives a +5 armour save, making the scar vet at a 3+ total save. Once again.. this is my fun list but I have had pretty good success with it.
