Hi Folks,
As I've been getting stuck into some converting of late, I decided that I'd like to make the Blade of Realities (purely for the fun of it), but can't seem to find/think of what it would look like. The fluff states that it was handed down by the gods and floats between planes of existence.

I need an abundance of opinions!! What do you imagine it would look like? I've got nothin'!

EDIT:
I found this... Thoughts?

I always thought of it more like a 40K power sword, or maybe even a lightsaber.

EDIT: (i'm sorry for getting so excited with pictures!)

You mean something like this?

or this?

or, maybe this?

Thiese look fairly more Lustrian as well (or could be converted pretty easily)

What do we reckon?

The blue powersword with lightning looks fab!

I always imagined the BoR to be transparent..........

Sounds cool, but how would you do it? You'd have to get the entire blade and paint it similar to its surroundings?

The other option would be to possibly paint it with half of it "sucked into another reality". Kind of like what happens in .Hack, if anyone's seen that.

i imagine it ethereal and liquid-looking. For the colour, trasparent light blue which gradually becomes aqua green

In my defense, this was Daughter of Bob's idea.

I imagined something very similar. Translucent instead of transparent. And ever changing colors flashing within (The entire visual spectrum from red to violet....and beyond!). Perhaps a sword shape can be cut out of a plastic diffraction grating sheet? Or maybe just cut out of diffraction grating glasses lenses? http://www.rainbowsymphonystore.com/diffraction-grating-glasses.html

I don't know how you would paint it, but I imagine the Blade of Realities being black with a constantly shifting starscape on it. The idea is that the blade itself is a portal and by looking at the surface of the blade you are seeing through the portal into the warp.

The image in my head is similar to the depictions of Eternity in Marvel Comics, but limited to a blade.

I like both those ideas!
What I might trial tonight after work will be using a paperclip and Water Effects to fashion a sword. If the shape holds and looks ok, I might do a few layers with different coloured inks through it to give it the "depth of the universe"... or something haha
I like the idea of it being translucent!

Bob's moer sensible suggestions:

There is that fancy purple-green paint you see on cars and helicopters occasionally, that might give some interseting effects if the blade has several facets. I like the flint blades used by savage orcs -lots of facets, clearly not metal.

You could go for a rainbow-ey mirror finish by fashioning a blade out of a blank CD. Doing that plus some inks fading from one colour to the next, then gloss coated might work (or not)

A blade of clear crystal could make sense (transparent). You might find something from a lego box to start with.

Aw, I did like your first suggestion!

I, too, like the flint blades!

I have a few ideas to play with now, I'm going to have a bash tonight. But by all means throw more ideas at me!!

Hmmm, what about a lightsabre sort of deal, except of the type seen in the game No More Heroes. That is to say, with a projector at the hilt and a "receiver" at the tip. You could use clear colored acrylic rod for the blade, and have a suitably az-tech looking hilt/receiver. Would be cool IMO.

I really can't see a lightsabre thing filling the requirements for The Blade of Realities. You pass a leadership test or die instantly, which would have to have something to do with sucking you into another reality so it would have to be ethereal of some description rather than mechanical. That's just my opinion though.
Thanks for the ideas though!

I really hate to rain on your parade, but I would hate for you to put a lot of time and effort into an awesome looking conversion... only to have GM REMOVE that magic item from the new book. If I were you I would wait

A noteworthy warning.

Some items are iconic to the LM though, and I have to believe that the Blade of Realities will stay.

As should Piranha Blade, Staff of the Lost Sun, Burning Blade of Chotec, Plaque of Tepok, Diadem of Power, Bane Head, Cloak of Feathers, Venom of the Firefly Frog. Although any of their rules could be changed all 9 items should be 'safe' to return.

i think washes of blues, purples and greens would look awesome on it.

i have the chaos alpha legion colour scheme in mind

@Chandlergriz:
Yeah, I know what you mean, but it's not going to stop me! haha. I enjoy making weird and wonderful things and if it means I have to rip the arm off the saurus then I won't be too heartbroken.
On a side note, (and I know there's a thread about this, but there's SO MANY pages to read through) is there any confirmations on the new book?

@Hardyworld:
Yep, there are and some should, but I also believed that about many of the HE items. alas they were ne'er to return to the battlefield!

@Bonz:
I agree, blues and greens give it that netherworldish look. A somewhat Aurora Borealis/Australis kind of look and feel
