9th Age Beta Army Books are now available

I ablosutely love like 90% of this book. I see so many options opened up for very unique army lists. I'm really really happy with this :). The Krox hero is the biggest flop, but hey I wasn't all for it anyway :). Skink cav riding those venomous raptor like creatures like in jurassic park 1! Giiiieeeefff hahhaha. That would make this absolutely epic xD
 
We're discussing the Crox Hero, but to be frank I'm not sure if it's possible to come up with a solution the RT will agree with.
 
He is a tricky one. Make him like you want him to be and he becomes too expensive, but tone him down and he easily comes out as a bit misplaced.
 
It's not that. They simply just don't like him. They don't like the idea of a monstrous infantry character for our army. Oddly enough they allowed exactly that for Wood Elfs and allowed a chaos gift for WoC where their characters can gain +1W/M and be put on a 40mm base.

Double standards are great. :)
 
That is wierd, one would think that a monstrous infantry character wouldn't be a problem in our army.

Wooot banner of the world dragen got fcked! Pardon my french but I like that a lot cuz that thing was probably the most OP thing in the entire game IMO...

Their shard*: enemy wizards in 6'' may not cast is the new OP item they got It seems. But you can atleast avoid that in most games and it's 100pts. Our TG and Slann combo is like the perfect target for it though...

I hope it's so expensive that most people will not care for it. It's a sick counter for our army, lol.

By far the biggest disappointment in the new book. I was so looking forward to it. As it stands now, the guy is virtually worthless. How can a Krox hero have less attacks than a regular Krox?!!? Plus his ability to confer his weapons skill to his unit is pretty redundant seeing as a Bastiladon can do the same thing but for every unit within 6". Why would anyone take the Krox hero over a Bastiladon?

Most of the rules are pretty good though. It will all come down to how the armies match up against each other. That will be the true test of all the army books.
 
Currently the external balance is all over the place that's to be expected though. For instance a chaos warrior Lord is the same price as our oldblood. ;)

The RT is aiming to fix the worst of these issues ASAP and have already asked the staff members of each book to review other books and give their assessment on external balance.

The next couple of month will see a lot of tweaking :p

Also the Croxisaurus hero is kinda hindered by a completely different view of the RT. It'll be very hard for the committee to get the RT on board to anything, but we'll see.

Also Croxisaurus hero + Bastiladon = WS5 Croxies :p and no the intention is not to also allow people to abuse fencers Blade to gain WS10 Croxies xD

:wideyed::wideyed::wideyed:I totally missed that... I guess that is the first thing they will change.


I really hate that they disallowed the Krox hero to buy magic armour. It's like they purposely wanted to make this guy useless (unless we use your WS10 trick... then he is worth every penny).
 
the rt team should say what do they want to do with our krox character, if they dont whant a fighter and they dont want a bsb buff wagon, what do they want?
 
They want it to be full support :p
But more and more of them are saying outright they don't want it at all anyway.
 
well it sound a lot like that last part of your mesage....

i mean you want full support? cool i suggest giving him 0 attacks, say that he is carying some giant banner that makes him a bsb pluss gives him lets say 3 buffing options and you choose to use one, imediately you gain a fluffy explenation and a flexibile hero!

orrr give him lets say 1 strngth 10 ordinance multiwound attack cause he is carying some giant weapon something like that....
 
He actually did have a crush attack at one point. At any rate we'll figure it out. For now he's sh1t though, but the rest of the army is more or less good :)
 
oh dont get me wrong, im not being a negative nency, i like 90% of things, and will try and play it for shoore...

just that i was looking forward to this character and im really sry to see him scrapped like this...

That sounds like a great pitch to the Rule team, I would very much keep that in mind ;) Another cool beast could be the famous, never before seen as model, Thunder lizard (Giant sauropod, I assume).

Yes, this I really find annoying. Basically Wood elves got a lot of neafty CC options, which I think is far over doing it, when considering we had to down grade, pretty much every aspect of CC, since apparently "Saurian are not a close combat army". What bugs me is, that what is in here now, will be the basic for how the rule books are going to form. If certain armies got exactly what they wanted, they are already a head in the race.

Let's hope I'm just too sceptic at the moment :P
 
Skink high Priest might be allowed to be placed in second rank of saurus warriors :3

This was actually a spawning until the RT removed it the day before release.
