Best 2250 Pt tournament army

Ok so I don't have an army YET. That is soon to change. However before I just go buying and spending willy nilly, I would like some tips. I baught an empire army willy nilly, didn't work out well on the table or my wallet.
So to all the experts out there, what is the best 2250pt tournament army. Note: it does not have to be easy on the wallet, fun to paint or fun to play.

First off, I have a question: What type of tournament do you plan on attending? This has quite a bit of bearing on what kind of army you should collect. In my area, we tend to have tournaments where everybody knows each other and brings lists that don't make their opponents want to punch their faces in. Sometimes we even have comp!
However, if you are not remotely worried about such trivialities, then you certainly can make a lizardmen army that is very, very mean. Take a slann and take as many salamanders as you can. Sprinkle with temple guard, saurus, and skirmishing skinks to your heart's delight. Maybe even an Engine of the Gods if you're feeling adventurous.

Edit: Oops, that's what I get for not reading. You don't care about making friends! Fair enough. Answer: Take some of the above. And no, I'm too lazy (and inexpert) to make your list for you.
 
In my experience, most people wont hate you too much for beating them as long as you always have an upbeat friendly attitude.
Of course, I've never played with Lizardmen and from what i've heard, they wrekkkkk. I think my opponents will take it well.
NO LIMITS ON THIS ARMY LIST! I HAVE MONEY! I CAN BUY BITS AND PIECES AND OOP MODELS!

What you should first do is buy the lizardmen book (after all, even if you hate the feel of it and decide not to play the army you'll know the rules of what lizardmen can do, helping you when you inevitably face them). Then you should read it from front to back and find out what you like (what fits your play style and such), and try to make the nastiest list you possibly can. Post it up, and I'm sure the guys will be happy to critique. However, it is just pure laziness to say "Tell me what to buy" without giving any indication to your preferences, what you want an army to look like, and if you intend on going to a tournament that has comp scores (after all "best" for the tournament scene is very, very different depending upon such a fact).
