I wanted a thread where we could share some of the music we love!

I love these three bands most (not in this order)
1. Imagine Dragons

2. Starset

3. Five Finger Death Punch (or 5fdp)

These are some of my favorites! I recommend that you delve deep into these bands, as many of their s (th, b) ongs are awesome!

If you don't like these songs, no problem! Everyone is entitled to their opinion. In the same way, please don't blast anyone's musical tastes with hatred. If you don't like it, feel free to tell us why. But don't just say "Yur taste in music sucks, and that band sucks worse!"
Give a logical reason for not liking it.

I look forward to hearing about everyone's favorite bands.

Nice thread! Favourite 5 at the moment:

1. SLAYER
2. Metallica
3. Devildriver
4. Suicide Silence
5. Disturbed

Although there is clearly a slight Metal bias ;) I like pretty much like anything other than 90s Britpop. God, I hate that Britpop..........

Excluding Twenty-one Pilots music, I don't like rap.
And to follow my own thread rules, here is my logical reason for not liking rap.

It is full of profanity. I don't mind swearing (5fdp swears a good bit) but when the foundation of your song is vulgar terminology, your song doesn't have much hope. And when the rapper "Mumble raps" (were you can't make out a damn thing he says) it really ticks me off.

This is my reason for not liking 95% of rap music.

As you said earlier, everyone has different tastes. I believe its better to not like something than pretend to in order to appease others.

Agreed. It is a weak man indeed who will pretend to like something, because he is afraid of what others will think if he doesn't.

My musical taste is kinda all over the map,
Usually if is something original played with talent
then I like it. :headphone:

:shifty: (Sadly the last couple of decades have ben a bit lacking in originality)
The problem is, nothing is original anymore. Every song has had it's lyrics sung long before the artist "thought" of them. And every musical melody has been performed or closely simulated at some time in the past.

So I wouldn't get to hung up on "originality" if I was you.

Edit, man I kinda sound like a snot from this comment. Please don't take it that way! I wasn't trying to be rude.

I blame the record labels for not taking chances on indie bands,
but instead keep putting together pop bands that all sound the same.

Whilst I agree with some aspects of the originality points made above, the problem is that things stop being original once they have been observed/heard. So something original to one person is old news to another.

Whilst I'm not say that people 'ripping off' others is fine, rather the opposite but, I would contend that the Disturbed version of the sound of silence has something different to offer from the original....

I need to sit down now ;)

My musical tastes bounce around all over the place, so I'm just post my most steadfast favorites in my initial post.

to start off, my favorite punk band, Bad Religion. They're known as a punk band that requires a dictionary. Been a fan since high school.

One of favorite musicians, Tom Waits is almost a genre of his own. Known as the most influential obscure artist, Tom Waits has also acted in a number of movies, including The Fisher King, Mystery Men, Seven Psychopaths and The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus.

One of my favorite rappers, Sage Francis is worth listening to by anyone.

This last artist is a personal friend of mine since high school and a popular artist in my local music scene. Brooks Long is a great musician and an overall great person.

I like a lot of different music, although of course there are some I like more than others.
If I had to choose one I like least.... maybe one of the techno or rap subgenres. I play the guitar myself so I often don't find anything very interesting in purely electronic / voice stuff. But I admit there are great songs in those genres as well.
HipHop often isn't my taste but I like quite some Eminem songs for example.

My favourite genres are
Country, especially Bluegrass
Rock, often Britrock
Punk, but not the really hard stuff

and yeah I am aware that some of those genres are so different, I look shizophrene for liking them at the same time. :D

Favourite Artists right now:
- Oasis
- Alan Jackson
- Fugazi
- Tony Rice
- Creedence Clearwater Revival

To be honest I like most things apart from what's in the charts at the moment and rap. Other than that, it's kind of hard to pin my music taste down! A selection of the various different sort of things I like:
Not exactly a common combination of genres!
Tears for fears!!!! :D:p
