You forget, Chaos unties behind me. Archaon is just a puppet... a front for our mass audience.

I remember in the novelisation, there was a moment at the beginning where Grievous abandons ship, and thinks to himself: "Palpatine and the Jedi are sure to die but oh well. He was sure Darth Sidious wouldn't mind"

Grevious is merely a puppet. Palatine is the puppeteer of the entire prequel trilogy!
