I never take Jungle Swarms as I find them too expensive for what they do, however I found a neat combo. Simply put; casting the spell Okkam's Mindrazor on a unit of Jungle Swarms would turn their pitiful strength 2 attacks into mighty STRENGTH 10 ATTACKS!!!

I wouldn't want to include them just in hopes of taking advantage of this, but I think it would be hilarious to unleash such devastation from a normally weak unit. A simple unit of 4 swarm bases would be kicking out 20 strength 10 attacks. I can't see much standing in the way of that for a significant period of time.

Yes, the extra strength will be applied to the armor modifier. In the Errata they changed the wording of the spell from "[...]when rolling to wound with[...]" to "[...]for[...]". So the Swarms new strength of 10 will wound on 2's and annihilate and any all armor. That's why I think it would be absolutely devastating.

Of course it can always be dispelled, but if not, can anyone think of anything to stand in the way of 5 strength 10 attacks per swarm base..... OUCH!!

Sounds like something that would be great for a laugh! The fluff of the spell talks about the enemy throwing themselves on the affected unit's weapons... I guess in terms of steam tank versus swarm this would be the the engineer in the tank opening up the hatch and letting all the swarms inside the tank. It makes a weird kind of sense.

Four swarms starts to get really pricey though. If our swarms were as cheap as skaven I'd probably build them into any Shadows Slann list. But considering their price... might not be worth it. Saurus boosting up to strength 8 is pretty nasty in itself.

5 str 10 attacks per base sounds so devastating if you had 6 bases you could easily destroy a block of 18 saurus... Really nice combo Nightbringer

the main problem to me with this is that the swarms are still really easy to kill, with thier pitiful T/I, and they're actually quite expensive (more points per wound than a saurus anyway).

still, for the one time it ever works, it would be totally, totally worth it!

i mean you have a really good lore. tou can downgrade enemys S that theywound your swarms harder, you can lessen theyre WS that they would hit harder and you better and no one will even think about swarms
i mean what would you do if you see a swarm charging? i would think "LOL thats dum". and then slann casts -d3 WS what you do? you dispell becouse you dont want to get trapped by swarms and think this was his idea. then you try to lessen his S then he dispelss again for the same reason.than you do pit or something he again dispells and in the end you use all your dices on S10 swarms and he goes like WTF?
and swarms wold do a lot more than they worth in huge blocks like trolls or chaos warriors or steam tank just LMAO
think from the perspective of ogreplayer? swarms killed a unit of iron guts

remember the base size of swarms. against a normal unit (20x20 bases) 5 wide you would get maximum 4 swarms. trolls/ogres 3 wide you get 5 swarms in base to base.

if you flank charge you lose more attacks. and there is the problem that they will die a lot before they get to swing

Well it depends what you are attacking with them. They would eat a lot of the big nasties (bloodthristers, stank, dragons, etc) because these things only have a finite number attacks. Remember that Jungle swarm bases have 5 wounds a pop. As an example, even if a bloodthirster made a wound for every one of its attacks, you've still only lost a single swarm. I think this combo works best against these types of targets because they are able to get by their formidable defenses and easily make up their points.

That said, I won't be including swarms in my army anytime soon, because aside from this spell, they are near useless. I just thought it was an interesting combo and it would be hilarious to drop something huge with a bunch of little swarms!

Buffing them with extra toughness also has some merit,
since they are unbreakable and have poisionus attacks,
they should hold a while and do decent damage againt
unarmored and light armored monsters/units.

You could take some swarms and place them in front of each of your units (like a screen), then cast briona's timewarp and speed of light at the higher casting values (yea, like you would actually get them both to work!). That would hit pretty hard!.

Speed of Light and Okhams mind razor, you'd go first (unless against high elves) almost all fo the time, lol, if it could work and you had a big enough army to get two slanns

That's pretty good, I suppose it would work well on most lizardmen units.

Since the javelin has the throwers S this could be devastating to things like cavalry or heavy infantry since it gives -3 armour.

sadly no, it's CC only. eitherways, an army created around a specific spell seems doomed to fail to me.

It would be even better on blowpipes, but sadly it only works for cc
