AoS Age of Sigmar Rumours - Mk II. (Our new name)

So here's what is quite baffling to me. That's a lot of dolls considering they're going skirmish. You might think I'm spouting nonsense, but unless I'm mistakening the Chaos side have 28 models and the human side have 18 or so. Might've miscounted by one. The High Elf part of Island of Blood came with 27 models.

Isn't that kinda odd? I mean - i seriously doubt we'll be going full skirmish with this game.

I think its intended to be played right out of the box.

I've always felt like GW needed an "open it and go" element of their Warhammer line. This seems to fill that void.

I agree - but you could do that with the previous starter set. It's just that people have enabled hyper panic mode some places (warseer), but for all I know we could be looking at two elite factions with few models. I do realize the focus on AoS is likely to be on fewer models, but what I'm seeing is not enough to cause panic.

Also GW want to sell more dolls. They don't want people to just buy 30 dolls and for people to be "yup, that's it I'm done here". What I mean is that yes you can likely play what? 1000pts battle from what we see here, but multiply that by 2½ and you're not that far from what we're used to.

I think massed battles are safe. Not as we used to know them, but people are scared of only-skirmish games and I seriously doubt that. Unless of course this is actually worth 2500pts for each side in the box, but that would go against GW being super minded for earning as much money as possible.

I like how empire minis are associated with Geld - in the post end times fluff it seems logic. Still I fully agree with Rikard.

Not a big fan either. It's tough to make out the chaos guys in the back because of the blurry photo, but so far it's not terribly exciting. The sigmarines look pretty good, but too 40k for me... and as @little-myth pointed out, the flying guys seem way to fragile. I'd be afraid of fielding those guys, unless the frailty of the models is just a photographic illusion.

Ugh, someone leak the rules already. I'm slowly dying from this torture.

I'm really not impressed either. They would really have had to create something that I've never seen before, couldn't get anywhere else and would give me tons more options to my current army(s). So far, I don't see any of those.

They have tried several times to create Smallhammer in various forms: Lunchhammer, Path to Glory, Warhammer Skirmish, Mordheim...
But always before it has failed to catch on.

It is possible that this time the intention is to commit harder to skirmish-level as a lead in to the ranked-battle rules. The models shown in the pix give enough variety to create a squad of skirmish guys. Previous boxed sets had a leader for each side and two kinds of troops including, musicians, champs, and standards. This has Leader; Grunts (10); Heavy Hitters (3), Flyers (3), Cleric and I am not sure about the chaos side but there are no mus/chmp/std.

Hmmm..all I can make out is we are getting some new 40k models lol. Nothing fantasy about them to me..at least the warhammer fantasy I know and love like Empire Knights and Lizardmen. Those models are more from an anime sci fi movie than the warhammer we already have. Until I see them in person or more photos they look like our current models will not fit in with them aesthetically, but maybe that is the point. Also perhaps I need glasses..most likely lol..but that cteature that knight type character is sitting on looks more chaos to me...like it is related to the demon dogs from the first ghostbusters movie. It has a spade like pointy tail, and a sabretooth like face..with pointy teeth.

If the Lizardmen get models in this style..what will they look like!? If they even get updated models...

I actually like them in different colors (Some dude photoshoped the pic).

Also: Chaos

The Chaos models are also as expected, but that is in fact a good thing: they look very 'chaosy'. In particular, I quite like the look of the new chaos beast (from what I can make out), and the fact that Korghos Khul has alittle pet flesh hound :p

My boyfriend has been very upset by this all, he even keeps screaming out he doesn't want to play Chaos anymore, well who was the one who picked them

Maybe if I get time, I will sigify a Lizardmen model or draw a picture. Just slap some green stuff on and maybe some Space marine gear from my Sp Wolves.

Does he have a problem with how the new Chaos look like? I don't think there's a huge change in aesthetics there.

He just doesn't like how powerful they are, it's pretty much the same story, he wins. Same old tactic, powerful Chaos.

Started making a Sigmar Lizard, added huge shoulder pads and armour out of green stuff, won't stick to the model but it will happily stick to the sculpting tool.
