AoS Age of Sigmar Rumours - Mk II. (Our new name)

Damn, imagine the goomba-squashing sound effects as it impact hits a unit :) chain-jumping between units with the bounces and rebounds, stomping everything it hits to flat 2d sprites

Edit: oh, oh! Bastiladon spinning across the void like Mario in a tanuki suit, knocking things flat with its spinning tail! I should probably stop imagining lustria world as a Nintendo game now...

Mario games...are those the ones with coins spinning all over the place?

Makes a sort of *plorp* *plorp* *plorp* noise as a row of coins is stomped on? One *plorp* / coin....?

If Nintendahammer is the future, there should be coins... ...call them "coins of battle". :p:rolleyes:

We could be called Koopa Saurus as our new faction name..and lead by a Bowser like Saurus..Sauser? lol.

hahaha now that is a conversion I would like to see XD

Hey, the new top predator! Carnosaur gains a one-use trait from the last prey it ate: fly from winged beasts, fiery breath from breath attackers, regeneration and so forth ;) I would field that!

I DON'T CARE ANYMORE, I'LL EVEN GO TO FAEIT 212 FOR RUMOURS lel:

"A lot of the base rules are the same as in 8th ed fantasy. The same
statline is there (M, WS, BS etc etc), armour works the same, shooting
takes similar penalties (long range, soft cover, shooting at skirmishers
etc), the difference is in the recommended level of play. CC works out in
much the same way, highest I goes first"

"Magic wasn't raised in the intro game, but once again I was told
it hasn't hugely changed. Only thing I should mention is that,
aside from some notable exceptions, wizards can't be leaders of a force."

Sure hope we can use our slann as leader haha

So according to that rumour Games Workshop dusted off a history book and "invented" the notion of FORM SQUARE!!

Players take control over several small units, organised into loose groups.
The models are on round bases. He mentioned that at least at our location,
people can use square bases if they want to, in fact with the new
unit formation rules it might be slightly easier to use squares.

Units can choose how loose their units form up, either very loose (think
8th ed skirmisher loose) with benefits to movement and defense against
shooting, tight, or square.

Tight allows for more maneuvers than square, but is less maneuverable than
loose. However, if you receive a charge in tight formation you're better
off in CC than if you received it in Skirmish.

Square offers almost no maneuverability, you can only move slowly forward.
However, if you receive a charge in Square formation then you're better off
in CC than if you received it in Tight or Skirmish formation.

...no doubt they will want to be claiming the IP to: "square formation".

Reminds me of some of the Lustria campaign rules (formations), from back in 6th edition.

INTRIGUED ... I guess I missed that, didn't get the supplement, or something.

If (or when) I write Lizardhammer certain kinds of overlooked formations will happen.

it also has a hobby section for the custom terrain needed in the campaign.

@n810 I think I saw some (a lot?) of that material in White Dwarf. But I had forgotten it and I don't think I ever had that book. Thanks for reminding me.

Figures that GW would take the classic "what's old is new" approach even in "rebooting" the rule system. I remember the old Lustria campaign book having lots of cool ideas and rules that eventually got condensed into the army rulebook. Personally, It now seems less like a new i dea and more like another lazy attempt to "shake things up" in the new game.

Thanks for linking those, but the content of those snippets is basically just GW telling us how great Warhammer is/was without telling us anything about AoS.

Put another way: Warhammer is dead. Long live Warhammer. :/

EDIT: I don't mean to sound unappreciative for passing around the links. I'm glad to see them :) I just wish GW would tell us what's going on.

OK most of you didn't play back then. but in 2nd Edition, the units could form squares, or tortoise if equipped with shields. Each formation came with its own difficulty and benefits/Penalties.

"The past 30 years of warhammer what but a preface, the age of sigmar is about to begin"

=

"We are dumping 30 years down the toilet while trying to wrap it up as a good thing"

Looking at the list below, it looks like GW is possibly gearing up to replace stocks with the new models from AoS?

That would fit with the older rumour stating that the AoS box set would feature Chaos vs Humans

I feel like I should buy more models now just so I don't risk losing the option in the near future. Is that what GW wants? For us to fear losing what we have?! Graaaa!!!!
