Hey new to the forum :D
I play Woodelves and Deamons of Chaos, and as you can imagine everyone at my gaming club complains my armies are usually to over powered, or hard to beat (great wall of nurgle etc)

So ive resorted to a new lizard list, some people have already called it over powered
but im using it because it has many weaknesses - to give other people a chance to win for once

The aim of this is to put each engine of the gods in a skink unit
Just to let you know, my club has many power players who dont complain about my other armies as theirs are equally as dirty, im using this to play the other newer players to the game

I can not understand for a second how people actually can enjoy playing that kind of lists.


You say that you want to take a nicer list to let people win and then you get a 15+ PD list with dual EOTG.

You are lost at sea with Jack Daniels.


You play Daemons of chaos, and if this list is a nice one i suppose your daemon lists are just abusing every single angle possible.

To be honest, you are basicly building NO BRAINERS, so its not the player behind the lists that is so good it is just the armies.

Try building something more balanced if you want to play against new players, and play something that actually requires some thinking to win.
 
You can say that, but in the gaming club i go to, the general list usually has roughly 13 pd
and someone whose only just started brings malekith and a cauldron of blood to the table with a hydra

its more of, a list like this gives me the oppurtunity to have a bit of fun before im beat.

A star dragon is the norm in my club...

The other persons lizzie list in my club has 4 Eotg
 
Amazing, i find it hard to see why one would even play that kind of a game, impossible for most armies to stand a chance, just a few who can competete and really takes no skill what so ever.

Star dragon i can live with, but 13-15 pd, 4 EOTG haha it sounds like you really need restrictions.
 
I'm with you on your comments all the way teknis. So many PD + 2x EotG is magic heavy. I don't see how you'll give any one a chance to win with this type of army if they're consistently getting destroyed in the magic phase. Your VPs are almost totally determined by the total of your die rolls in the casting phase cause watch out if the hard hitters survive to charge or should you suffer a miscast.

I'd consider revising the list to a more balanced setup. However, if your group seems to like to play rock-paper-scissors with dice, then that list will work just fine.

if that's the environment he plays in so be it, let's help him with it rather than just say if we don't think it's balanced or whatever :D
 
I was shocked to hear something similar when I walked into my local GW in London (GW Diagon Ally shop ofc... nah jokes it was Oxford street).

I bought myself a stegadon kit and the guy who sold it to me started talking. Turns out he plays lizardmen too and started saying "Yeah yeah great, you're making an EotG. My 2k army has four of them and some skinks and terradons to support... It's amazing! I just put all four EotGs down one flank and use the skinks to disrupt anything in the middle while the EotG just destroy anything in their path and nuke whatever is in sight at range with whatever thunderbolt or lightning spells they get... such great games"

Needless to say I was disgusted yet amused and very very slightly tempted to buy another 3 stegadon kits (but resisted).
 
Am I just not seeing what is so OMG UNSTOPPABLE about the list? I get that there are tons of PD, but this list is a slow, slow beast. It will maneuver like a manatee. The EotG's are great for pulses, but they won't be the ones doing much casting. The skink units w/Kroxigors aren't really impressive, even with the EotG in it. The EotG will have far more hampered mobility, and basically present an enormous flank to get charged by cavalry and whatnot.

I am not saying the list isn't good or isn't going to be a tough fight, but it will face serious problems. It really doesn't even matter how many PD you have, Skink Priests are lvl2s with Heavens - there is a good chance they will have mediocre spells. It then all comes down to if your Slann can take on an entire enemy army.


***EDIT*** Even though I disagree with the attitude of the thread, it wouldn't be very helpful just to criticize and leave it at that.

Drop the unit of 10 Saurus with spears. They are the weakest link in the army, and don't do anything the rest of the army can't already do. That frees you up 120 points. Add in two units of ten skink skirmishers, which is 140 (I would suggest dropping two TG to make this happen, you don't really have the points anywhere else unless you want to start cutting into items).

At the very least this will give you access to some fast moving skirmishers and some lighter missile fire to deal with more isolated threats you would rather not have to waste spells on.

I'd suggest dropping the skink units altogether. At Toughness 2, even with the additional US 10 from the Engines, I foresee a LOT of panic tests, and watching those expensive Engines panic because skinks are squishy would suck. A big saurus spear block and some terradons would probably serve the list better, being far tougher, killier, and more flexible.
 
I don't think anyone is saying its "OMGUNSTOPPABLE". I think that certain lists will crush it. Other lists will simply not be able to stand up to all the terror tests that come up and get crushed. Definitely falls into a 'rock-paper-scissors' scenario. Like you mentioned lated in your post, there are some meaty flanks that will need protecting.

I would also advise dropping the sarus unit in favor of more skinks (skirmishers). Another route you could take would be to find points from some other unit and make the sarus unit larger, giving it some static combat resolution. This will give you another 'anvil' unit you can prak next to the Slann and help avoid getting the TG flanked on both sides at the same time.

Hope that this is more along the lines of what we're looking for in terms of feedback. I apologize that my first post wasn't as constructive.
 
Yeah I agree this list is slightly overpowered in some regions and thanks to Jive for helping out with the saurus issue, but for now i'll leave them as they are (until i can buy more skinks)

but i'll be keeping the big skink units, to teach new players ways to win in the game without taking uber cheese lists - In this case, go for the skinks even though it seems big and scary, if you break it down its an easy unit to beat.

I disagree, our club doesnt need restrictions because at the end of the day everyone has fun being the golden rule of warhammer, so what? people play uber cheese lists but people who beat them with normal lists have something to smile about etc. and because i helo out the staff "sorting out" these lists by teaching the newer players to play without bringing a hydra etc to that table

Off topic but still gotta ask.

You ask new players to not bring a hydra to the table, yet you take a "soft list" with 2 EOTG and slann etc etc.


makes no sense to me.
 
No we dont ask them
We teach them how to play without one

By showing them they can beat this list without one, and as you can see the many many flaws this list had
