Hi, I'm new to Lizardmen and kinda new to wargaming, I want to finally get an army going. I was thinking about building 1000pts list to learn the game and then move to ~2-2.5k. Currently I have:
  • Starblood Stalkers from WHU (I could use some of them as heroes, so i guess):
    • Skink Priest
    • Oldblood/Scarvet on foot
    • Skink Brave or 2
  • 1.5 6th ed battalion (mostly on sprues):
    • ~30 Saurus Warriors
    • 12 Skinks + 8 with javelins
    • ~14 Cold one Cavalry
    • 20 Temple Guards
  • Stegadon
  • Bastalidon
  • Box of Terradon riders
Could anyone help with getting a basic list out of it? I plan to get a Slann if they reprint the old one, new is too big and flashy for my tastes.

Came up with 1000pts on the nose. Not sure how optimized it really is (I'm used to higher points and a slann lol)

LORDS
Oldblood 206pts
Great weapon, armour of destiny, luck stone, ironcure icon

HEROES
Skink Priest, Lore of Heavens 125pts
Level 2 upgrade, dispel scroll

Core
Saurus warriors x19 209pts
(Oldbood goes in this block)

Skink Skirmishers x10 70pts
Javalin and shield

Skink Skirmishers x10 70pts
Javalin and shield

Special
Terradon Riders x3 105pts

Stegadon 215pts

Hope this helps and maybe others can chime in here. I would have preferred to spring for an ancient stegadon.

Cheers

Thanks! Do you think I should maybe get a salamander or razodon for 2k list?

Speaking of 8th edition only, salamanders are well worth it, while razordons are not as useful. I would say the next high priority things to get for your army are 2 salamanders and then maybe a slann. Salamanders almost always hit if you don't misfire and position them properly.

There is an amazing thread in the tactics section that I cannot recommend enough. It breaks down every unit, spell, magic item.
