8th Ed. 700 pts vs VC

I've recently got back into the hobby and naturally return to my lizardmen! So far my regular opponent has been a mate who's just putting together some VC's and we've been having progressively larger games. It's looking like we might be sticking 'round the 700ish mark for now while painting gets done.

So for our next game, this is what I'm thinking:


Scar Veteran /w Light Armour, Shield & Gold Sigil Sword
Skink Priest
19 Saurus /w Command
8 Skink Skirmishers
8 Skink Skirmishers
Salamander /w Extra Handler
Salamander /w Extra Handler

The models I have at my disposal are thus:

-24 Skinks, Javelins
-24 Skinks, Blowpipes
-20 Saurus, HW+S
-40ish Saurus, Spears
-3 Salamanders
-3 Jungle Swarms
-4 Krox
-5ish half converted Chameleon Skinks
-Stegadon, WIP near done. Playable

A few other odds and ends, some assorted heroic types and such, slann, carnosaur, WIP EotG etc. for larger games.

Since I'm re-learning and he's learning, we're mostly in it for fun and a good game. I welcome any thoughts and suggestions!

Hey,

the 700point games sounds like a good way of getting back into things.

I think your list is quite good, but its not legal sadly, Skirmishers have a minimum size of 10models/unit.

I would probably prefer the Sword of Striking to the Gold Sigil Sword, but otherwise a great way you've filled up your characters. Only thing that stands out to me is the double salamander, I don't think 2 are really necesarry at 700. What I would do is go with maybe a 17(6x3) strong unit of saurus, a single sallie, unit of skirmishers and 6 Chamo Skinks.

Ah, you're completely right about the skinks! We'd been doing Warbands for a bit, thus the mistake.

Not taking a second salamander would free up some points. Not sure when our next game is, but I'll post how it goes, plus the final list I ended up using.
