Hi, I am new here and have never played a game with Lizardmen, but am about to try them out now (my brother and I have been playing several 7th edition games using facetime and skype) against a 500 point dwarf army. Any ideas if this is a good idea?

1 Scar Vet with light armour and shield

15 Saurus warriors with hand weapons and shields and standard bearer

16 skink skirmishers with blowpipes

10 Chameleon skinks with blowpipes.

I know he plans to bring an organ gun, 1 thane, 15 warriors and 10 quarrelers. The Organ gun is going to be a menace, but I hope to get my chameloens close enough to shoot them, and 32 shots from my skink skirmishers should hopefully decimate the crossbows, whilst I will hold off the engagement with the dwarf warriors until ready to get back up from skinks. Maybe even shoot them a bit too!

We keep the games small as I'm moving around all the units and with only a couple of hours to spare after putting the little one to bed, it's all we have time for!

Well, I played the game. Chameleons stepped forward on the first turn and rained darts at the quarrelers, killing three as my other units moved forward. Return fire from the organ gun decimated 7 of the skinks, leaving only 3, but they held their nerve and stayed put. The quarrelers failed to hit the Saurus.

The skinks came out and rained death on the remaining crossbows, leaving one left alive and running. The Saurus moved forward again, ready to charge the warriors.

Dwarf turn, the crossbow rallied, the organ gun misfired and blew up, and his dwarfs failed a charge.

Dwarf unit charged and broken in two turns without losing a single Saurus, and despite the Thane having a rune to always strike first. The fleeing Dwarfs were promptly ran down by the skink skirmishers who had been waiting behind the unit watching the Saurus do their thing. Quite a pleasing and quick battle. Well done Lizards!

Nice one! Death to the stunted ones!

Not familiar with 7th Edition, but I guess it can't be too far from the 8th? The 8th is where I live.

I think you were pretty lucky with the Organ Gun misfiring, but for such a small game I think you did great!

How did you do the battle on Skype/Facetime? I'm very, very curious.

Do you know how the 7th edition rules compare to the eighth?

I haven't played 8th, so can't compare it! I was very lucky with the organ gun misfiring. I'm usually a dwarf player, so I know how lethal the bloody thing is. When he rolled an 8 on his turn and cut down 7 of my skinks, I thought I'd be in for a rough time...

I have a games room in my attic where my brother and I store our gaming stuff, so it is all here, so I am setting it up, getting all the units ready. I set up a laptop in the corner overseeing the battlefield, then using facetime on the phone, I get in close so my brother can see the field better and watch the dice rolls. He has his dice at home which he rolls. It isn't great, but has worked a treat - we have mainly stuck to 500 point battles but will be trying out a 2000 point battle at the weekend which my daughter will help with (she is only six but loves rolling the dice!)

That is a fantastic set-up!
