4 is my lucky number

No really, 4 ís my lucky number! And thursday will be my 4th surgery to my knee. This time, they will fix it, all of it. At least that's the plan

My new ACL in my left knee, isn't working properly. So they will repair it.
how?
First, they check if my current ACL still performs minor functions,
if so: they add another string to tighten it up.
if no: they remove my current ACL and put in a new one (spare parts ).

It also means I have to re-do my 9 months of revalidation, which sucks.
It also means I can finally start football again! (after the revalidation ), which is G-R-E-A-T!
It also means I can finish the tactica, as I will have time aplenty.

Wow that is a lot of reconstructive surgery... I hope the fourth one goes well for you. From what I have seen, it is rare to get a knee like that back to the full strength it was beforehand, both physically and psychologically (you will worry about doing it again) so be careful, don't try to rush the rehab, and don't risk damage again.

And yes, it is way too much reconstructive surgery. But the way the knee is now...is worse than undergoing another surgery.

I am aware that my knee will not get back at full strenght again, ever, but I also know that I can do all the things I want to do with it->even when not a full strenght. I've been through quite some therapy, and I've played football with a semi-broken knee (found that out afterwards). So I know how it feels/behaves, I also know that my goal: playing football is one I can score .

Good luck with the surgery. I snapped an ACL playing basketball a few years ago. I had surgery to replace it, went through physical therapy to strengthen it, and then snapped it again less than a year later. This time I just decided to live with a little instability in that knee, rather than go through another operation.

I finally realized that I'm too old and fat to try and keep up with a bunch of teenagers and 20-somethings on a B-ball court.

Hopefully yours will go better this time.

That is the other side of the coin; have a goal to aim towards wil definitely help keep you motivated! I wish you well with that.

I am currently playing usually 10, but up to 15 hours of volleyball per week. My hitting shoulder has been quite sore for a few months, it seems to be tendon problems. I sometimes can't even lift my arm above my head. I went to a doctor (not a very good one) who just prescribed me with anti-inflammatories. I am really hoping that its nothing major, I'm just ignoring the pain so far not wanting it to get checked too carefully. After uni games in september I might try to get it looked at.

Not meant to sound negative of course.

Back to hoping I won't have to deal with surgeries then, as my lucky number is 8.

well MI-Tiger: As far as I'm concerned, this will be my last surgery/walking on crutches. If something happens to my knee after this, that's it. I'm done.
Strewart: good luck with your shoulder, sounds bad to me though. But then again, playing 10-15 hours of volleyball is great great fun! Thanks for your support

But let's hope my lucky number stops all evil aimed towards me from now on .

Things are going well with my knee:
Not much pain, not much hydrops (? is that the word..) in my leg. Ofcourse, I've felt better. But the first time was worse (= what she said).

When I can sit again normally, I can really start typing stuff. Now I'm lying on the couch, and that is somewhat awkward after some time...
