Hey after a long break, me and some friends decided to start playing again :). We stopped around 6th edition and now are playing 8th. I've played 3 battles against WoC and 2 against O&G. We are still play testing around so keep that in mind when you see this army :). I have had one win, one draw and one loss against WoC and 2 wins against O&G so far.

All battles i previously played had a slann in them. Now it's time to go for no magic at all (if that is wise anyway :p)...

Lord

Saurus old blood, magic items: Potion of speed, Armour of destiney and Sword of strife

Heroes

Saurus Scar-Veteran, light armor, cold one, BSB, magic: Opal Amulet, Fencer's Blades

Saurus Scar-Veteran, light armor, shield, magic: Sacred Stegadon Helm of Itza, Biting Blade

Skink priest lvl 2, DS

Core

3 units of saurus warrios, 24 each, all with full command (in one unit goes the Old blood, another unit for the scar vet and one unit without a char)

Special

9 cold one riders, full command, bsb joins them

Rare

2 razordons + extra handler

I know this army looks pretty dull... But i really don't want to use a slann and TG this time. Let me know what you think. I know the no magic is a big risk, but tbh magic didn't really do so much the last battles i played. I could maybe drop the 2 unit of skinks (not much use against WoC anyway) and put a lvl 2 shaman scroll caddy in it...

I hear you, their poison did do well previous games, but i was wondering is it worth it to sac them and bring in a priest?

Eh, no magic is a big risk. I'd bring a priest, indeed... if not for forcing your opponent to think about its magic phase. You cannot give away a whole phase to the enemy.

I think this list won't do very well. You have 3 slow blocks, without skirmisher skinks i think it will be very hard to control the battlefield. You have one strong hammer, but as it is relatively slow, with only M7, and as it lacks the power to break a horde, i think it will be hard to smash them in the side of something and you don't want to frontally charge something, which makes everything akward. I like the idea of going no magic, challenging yourself is fun, but i think a no Slann list would work better in a skink type list instead of a saurus type list. Things like walk between worlds really give your Sauri the reach to get to their enemy, you lack that in your list. Envision having to fight agains a unit of Warlocks, or a few units of Dark Riders, how is this list every going to do anything against those units, after your Razordons have been blown up?

Hey first off all thanks for replying :D really appreciate it. I hardly doubt my opponent will bring a horde. He has never done so and it is all to expensive with warriors of chaos. Normally he brings 1 block of infantery (around 15-20 warriors) and a few hard units (like juggernauts and so). Warlocks and/or dark riders aren't chaos units right? i would have made a more mobile army against another army.

From my previous experiences rank&file units really work well. They stand their ground against mostly anything except of course other rank&file units. Well atleast much better than in previous editions of warhammer. And every block except one has a character in it.

The battle is tonight :) i'll post some pictures and maybe a battle report (keep in mind my army is not painted :p i only love to play the game not the painting part hehe)

I think you’ve already played by now so I’ll look out for the bat rep. I am curious which army was your opponent playing though?

I would have loved to have been there.

It's a shame you didn't get a photo of his facial expression after the dice rolls... ;)
