Been trying out a few lists and I think I've found a list that is going to be top tier competitive. A similar (worse) list I ran on the weekend almost tabled archaeon everchosen turn 1, would have tabled mawtribes turn 2 if I didn't try to get the God dagger to go off and went toe to toe vs eel spam idk even after I stupidly threw my salamanders away.

The list relies heavily on weight of fire and MW spam. Let me know what you think /any criticisms. When the season starts up after coronapocalyse, I'm hoping to take this to a few GTs.

Looks very solid!

Do you feel it would be worth lowering the 30x Skinks to 20x in order to make space for the BwV? Or does having two forward Skink Starpriest give you enough options with Celestial Deliverance?

How you feel about the list's ability to stand up against DoT?
 
Looks strong to me!

Yeah i would probably drop 3rd unit down to 10 to get some endless spells for Kroak. Bound geminids & BWV would be a great addition.
 
honestly... I would drop the entire 3rd unit of 30. that's 200 free points. spend 100 give kroak 10 extra wounds with a min guard unit. then you have 100 points for endless spells.

with the guard you can just walk kroak up the field to the center of the board and spam CD much to the detriment of any Chaos daemon armies... like DoT...

Kroak offers such a strong match up to DoT. It is hard not to bring him :D

Assuming his Starpriest stay alive he should be able to vector off of them without actually having to move kroak.

that's too big of an assumption for a 5 wound model against DoT

I suppose. However, If DoT is Splitting fire to kill two Skink Starpriest who are likely -1 to hit then I might consider that a win on its own merit?

perhaps, except DoT has the firepower to not worry about that lol. they have more shots than a redneck at the STD clinic
 
After a few games I had with a normal Slann, BwV is amazing, and on Kroak would be even better, Bound Purple sun is also hilarious, managed to deal 8 MW to a Keeper of Secrets, and its a relatively easy spell to cast for us too. If you happen to have extra points left maybe consider Quicksilver Swords aswell and possible an additional CP

You might think you will have plenty of rolls, but those rolls can fail, thats why Im trying to fit Battalions into my lists now.

I haven't really found the BwV any real use as with the 2 starpriests and starmaster, I've been running kroak around the back field to make sure I'm getting his spells off where I want them and doing that without movement is a bit more restirictive.

Vs DoT, I don't think it's too bad, I feel like with the amount of skinks I have, I can zone out a lot and keep my characters relatively safe, and if they let me go first, I have a very good chance of just straight up deleting the problem units.

My initial list I was trying had a unit of 10 instead of the 30 and they didn't do anything but die. I think skinks really only work as units of 40 in this meta, but at least a unit of 30 is 75% strength and it's good to have a back up to throw one unit into the front lines and still have a back up if I lose the unit. I was running bound geminids and while they were ok and they do give out good debuffs, I did find a lorge block of skinks just put out more damage on average due to the sheer amount of firepower and you don't need to debuff what is dead :p I don't know if it's just me, but I've found BWV a little useless as the army is so reliant on movement and even moving kroak around, the +6 range is useless if I'm using the skink wizards as becons and I'm not really a fan of the slann lore, so the extra spell doesnt really bother me, the buff to save would be nice, but the ability to move around is the trade off.

I've found the guard to be a real let down. Just the fact that the ability is before DPRs really brings their value down. It is something I might try, but having the extra 30 bodies is great for objective capping and screening too.

I do like some of the endless spells, but sometimes they seem a bit too swingy. I don't see the need for the BwV any more tbh, the extra range isn't needed while I have 3 skink wizards to use as range beacons. The extra spells is not something that really bothers me as the spells kroak has are more than enough, the extra save would be nice, but I don't think it's worth the cost of movement any more now that we aren't getting the extra CCP.

Yeah, the rolls are pretty good and have been decently reliable for most games. I have struggled to fit battalions in though. I don't think starborne ones are great and it's hard to justify the tax and the points of the battalion at the moment.
 
Definitely play what fits your own style. 10xSkinks are for screening and back field objective grabbing. Sometimes their job is to die and they do it very well considering they are fast and cheap :) In my opinion most Seraphon armies need some cheap screens but it always comes down to personal choice.
 
I definitely think that was the old way and I used to play it like that, but big blocks have been treating me well so far, losing the ability to flee has killed the 10 man unit I feel and raw staying power considering how hard buffed skinks can now punch in combat has really changed the game for me

That's incorrect, you have to give the trait to a saurus general if you have one, but you don't have to have a saurus general. Showing as valid in my azyr.
 
Azyr also incorrectly listed Salamanders are being 50mpp for 1 Salamander or 120mpp for 3. The App is not reliable at book release. The same the books rules aren't set in stone until the FAQ. Both sources need updates.
