8th Ed. 2k beginner list

Working on a 2k list meant to be casual at this point, but winning is also fun so advice would be appreciated.

Slann Mage Priest (High?)
BSB, Reservoir of Eldritch Energy, Focus of Mastery(high), Cube of Darkness

Saurus Scar-Vet
Light Armour, Halberd, Shield, Carnosaur, The Piranha Blade

Skink Priest Lvl 2 (Heavens/Beasts?)

I've seen heard a lot of bad things about Skrox but the unit appeals to me if only just for looking cool. what role do these guys play?

I think i need a lot of help with magic and magic item selection.

general thoughts?

A fun list and I really like to see somebody using Skrox units! However I think you have to much heavy units.

Slann: Use the 3D6 channeling on 5+ combo, channeling staff + Harmonic Convergence. Maybe think about choosing a lore or signatures. I don't think high magic is a viable choice in 2000 pts.

Scarnosaur: Drop the scarnosaur, replace for a cold one cowboy.

Priest: Make it a lv 1 heavens scrollcaddy

Great you use saurus warriors, 30 of them is the number i also prefer! I usethem with spears but great choice when using them 5 wide and 6 long! Hard to break steadfast with a slann which can boost.

Think about 2x10 skirmishers with jav/shield.

20 templeguard should be better, 6 wide, 4 long with a slann in it.

I don't know how many points you have left, but maybe chameleons, terradons, ripperdactyls to add to this list
