8th Ed. 2500 vs Ogres

Hey guys.

Need some input on my list against Ogres.

solo Slann with rumination, plaque of tepok, lore of beasts.
slann with rumination, mystery, lore of life in 20 temple guards with full command

unit of 5x scar-vet on coldone with light armor and extra handweapon, one of them is bsb

2x26saurus FC

2x2 razordon hunting pack or ancient steadon.

Plan is to have the templeguards and saurus be anvil units and use the scar-vet unit as a hammer, the solo slann follows the scar-vets and hopefully gets the savage beasts of horror aoe off giving the vets 40 str 8 attacks.
the life slann can hopefully heal some wounds on the vets.
i have considered adding some Chameleons, but the ogres all have multiple wounds so i don't really think they will do much.

Any Thoughts

poisoned attacks hurts ogres as much as a brick hurts a window.... mhhh, its not my kinda list, i miss skinks.. ?Chamelion skinks tbh....

IMO you are neglecting an advantage you have over the ogres: poison shots from skinks/chameleons. True they are multi-wound models, but they are less numerous. As high cost, high toughness models with very low armor saves, they make ideal targets for poison.

I would definitely reconsider the chameleons, and think about adding some regular skirmishers as well.

In the same vein, despite salamanders being wildly more popular than razordons for an all-comers list, I think you made a great decision taking them against the ogres specifically.

Your tactics with the double slann sound cool. I'd like to hear some batreps from you in the future on how it plays out. Without ethereal obviously you'll have to play that solo slann really carefully. Also, be cognizant of hellheart or whatever that ogre mage destroyer thing is called.

It's also a little worrying going in without a dispel scroll. Maybe you could finagle one in somewhere; perhaps consider dropping the champions from the saurus units to make room for the points. No cupped hands makes me nervous too, but I realize that will be harder to find the points for.

Good luck though, ogres can make some very tough lists!

Agreed with the other guys. Skinks are king against Ogres. The best armor they got are on their bulls. I thinnk its like a 5+.

IMHO I would like to see a diffreent Slann for solo. Put shadow on him and POS the Ogres to death they are all I1 as well as us so dropping them in a hole is realtivvely easy. I have erasded whole ntis of Ogres with a well placed pit of shades.Running him solo allows you to Miscast and not hurt anyone.

I don't like the 5 SV on CO as a unit. If your enemy figures that out he will annihlate that unit. Lead belchers and scraplaunchers will trun those guys into swiss cheese. I get your idea but your not going to get look out sir for that unit and if he kills those guys off thats a ton of your points wasted. IMO iI would drop those guys and go for skinks with the points and a hordeof Skrox Many more models will help and MSU tactic works good due tot he fact that Ogres are going to have many units themselves as the bigge their units get the amount of points goes up exponentially.
