Hi everyone, doing another list, 2400 list for a friendly tournament. The tournament rules we are using are Swedish tournament rules, that uses "composition scores" to balance armies. Basically everyone starts with 300 points, which counts down depending on what unit or character you choose. When the army is ready you divide the score by 10 and round down, which gives you your "comp score". The lower the value the stronger the army, but we have limited our scores to be between 5-15. http://swfbr.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=4494 here you can find rules and point values for different units. I currently have:

Slann Mage-Priest
Lore of Life, Focus of Mystery, Focused Rumination, Battle Standard Bearer, War Banner, Fencer's Blades

Saurus Scar-Veteran
Great Weapon, Light Armour, Shield, Dragonhelm, Talisman of Endurance, Venom of the Firefly Frog

Saurus Scar-Veteran
Shield, Burning Blade of Chotec, Gambler's Armour

Skink Priest
Level 2 Upgrade, Dispel Scroll, Ruby Ring of Ruin

30x Saurus Warriors
Scaly Skin, Shield, Spawning Champion, Musician, Standard Bearer

10x Skinks
FC, 1 Kroxigors

10x Skinks
FC, 1 Kroxigors

25x Temple Guard
FC, Sword of Might, Banner of Eternal Flame

2x5 Chameleon Skinks

5x Saurus Cavalry

2x Salamander hunting pack
Extra Skink herder

My points are at 2371 and comp score is currently 6, so I think it's pretty good. What I'm worried about is the CoC, that is it going to be any use :D Any thoughts on this are appreciated. Note that the comp point rules affect how to build the list, cus the first build had comp score of 1 :D

Probably not easy to comment about rules you're not familiar with :D But still need some help, in deciding that is. I have done 3 lists that barely fits the rules. So need some hints and tips for final touches and helping to decide.

Would have liked on the 2nd list to have 2x30 saurus, but saurus start to take a lot of comp scores when there's more than 30 of them, that's why 10 cold ones. Hoping for comments on this :)

Although I am familiar with Swedish Comp, I haven't ever written a list using it and it is more difficult to analyse because for everything you add, you have to consider how it is going to effect the comp score, so it involves a reasonable amount of thinking rather than suggesting point for point replacement. Hence why maybe you havent had a great response.

That said, on a general note:

Skink braves and stalkers are generally considered inefficient because you are looking for 6 for poison and the rank and file brave will probably be killed long before his additional attack comes into play.
Can you add more skinks in place of these point or does that mess up your comp score? if it does, can you take a magic item on one of the priests?

Also, do you need level 2 upgrades on the priest? Won't the Slann be dominating the power dice?

I think those lists are very strong for SweComp but 5-6 is also a very low score. Life+Rumination isn't cheap.

I'd be tempted to try some MSU Saurus Warriors as they are very good for your comp score and I think they could be rather useful too.

Yeah I believe that it's needs alot of thinking about with this :D The problem with skinks is that I only have so few. Of course i can use empty bases to fill units but I'd like to have every unit visible :D

The 2nd level is there because I have no other place to put points :D Also the extra 1 casting value helps with Iceshard Blizzard, which will probably help alot. I've been thinking a lot of iceshard + the withering and salamander shooting, to really do damage and 1 or 2 points decreased leadership will make many things flee a lot easier :D

The Slann takes so many comp score points (because it's so damn good!) so I have to make compromises.

One the second list I could take away the 2nd lvl upgrade from one, take away the stalkers and drop 2 skinks from both skorxs unit. Instead i'd put Ruby ring of ruin to the lvl 2 skink priest and Feather cloak to the lvl1 skink priest. With a flying skink priest the slann could use the Shadows attribute to teleport freely.

Would the skorxs units suffer too much from the 2 skink lost?

MSU Saurus Warriors could be quite different. The only big juicy target for warmachines is the Slann+ Temple guard unit, who probably has at least 5+ regen, but for the 2nd list, not having an anvil unit it could hurt.. Would you have 2x15 or 3x10? Or maybe take 2x20 or 4x10 for the fun of it? :D

It's just a thought I had, I never tried it. But I would consider 12 models deployed 6 wide. It's fairly cheap, very good comp score (only -3) and you still get 18 S4 attacks. They should work well alongside Skink Skirmisher units as they add the threat of a charge. I think it is at least something worth experimenting with.
