Hey all,

Playing around with the heavy cav. list for the lizardmen. Let me know what you think. I know this list may be obsolete when 8th ed rolls around but I wanted to try it out before hand. I'm thinking the EotG up the middle to protect as much as it can, cav flanking that (BsB in one unit). Steg Ancient on one flank with the other cav in support. Terradons play warmachine hunters. Skinks all over to gum up the works and the general placed where ever he is needed. Let me know what you think, does it suck is it good is it beardy?

1 Saurus Oldblood
General; Light Armour
Blade of Revered Tzunki
Enchanted Shield
1 Carnosaur

1 Skink Priest
Magic Level 2;
Diadem of Power
1 Ancient Stegadon with Engine of the Gods

1 Saurus Scar-Veteran
Spear; Light Armour; Battle Standard
Shield of the Mirrored Pool
1 Cold One

4 Cold One Cavalry
Musician, 1 Champion

4 Cold One Cavalry

4 Cold One Cavalry

4 Terradon Riders

10 Skink Skirmishers
10 Skink Skirmishers
10 Skink Skirmishers

1 Ancient Stegadon

Casting Pool: 5

Seems like an ok list, though much depends on your ability to combine charges effectively.

Also, three units of cold-ones, even though I can see where you're going with it, is a tad bit risky due to stupidity IMO.

Personally, and this is only a suggestion, I would scrap one units if cold-ones and the a.steg, and instead field a chief with warspear on an a.steg and another unit of terradons.

Let us know how this army does!

Seems like a fair list. The thing I'd worry about has already been mentioned, leadership checks. And not just for stupidity. If your opponent has a fair amount of shooting your CoC units will start making panic checks as early as turn one (if your opponent is good at guess ranges). Comparitively it's a fairly small list with the number of models being short. However if your able to tie you units into combat quickly you won't have to worry about shooting and magic (except agaisnt Skaven).

While the Skink Chief on the Steg would be nice, that makes over half my list in just characters alone. I could drop out the Scar Vet. to make points for something else. I like the carnosaur model so I want him in the army. The priest on the EotG is a must with so little magic and the minor protection it provides. Any other thoughts?

i believe that a unit of COC consists of 5+. so your units of 4 is illegal.

He's got the champion listed... but kinda hard to see at first look so I see what you're saying. So he does have legal sized units.

As for the list, I think it is ok although with what you have I would recommend the item that gives cavalry units "stubborn" within 12" (sorry, I can't remember the name of it). I think it would fit your army well and gives you what you're looking for in the form of staying power for your cold ones. I like the concept and I think adding that item somewhere helps you achieve the type of army that you want. Good luck with it and let me know how it goes. Hope that helps.

Yeah I thought about that, main problem is that its a 100pt item that makes cav stubborn within a radius around the bearer. My lord would have to take it and it leaves him with just mundane armor and weapons. I may play around with it to see how it goes.

i see. i guess its just the way you listed it seems like you only had 4 guys with one of them being the musician and one of them being the champion.
