I have a game vs high elves this coming Tuesday, here is my proposed list

Skink Priest
L2, Heavens, Cube

24 Saurus; full command
10 Skink Cohorts; banner
10 Skink Skirmishers (pipes)

Stegadon
3 Ripperdactyl Riders
6 Chameleon Skinks

Rare
Salamander Hunting Pack w/ additional Handler
Salamander Hunting Pack w/ additional Handler

Total - 1999pts

Comments? I've thought about dropping a salamander to boost the Saurus numbers, but I like the redundancy of having the second, and taking a larger unit means I'd have to either drop the other or shrink it down. The skink cohort provides a bunker for one or more priests, and boosts my fortitude if we end up playing blood and glory.

I quite like it, especially the point about redundancy. If you're going for a Salamander, then definitely take too.

Are you purposefully trying out a Carnosaur? Otherwise I'd consider running the Oldblood on a Cold One and using the points to grab a Scar-Vet BSB and/or some Cold Ones.

And if after that you still have some points, how about a Skink Chief with the Egg? At I6 he'll go before things like Swordmasters and White Lions (not to mention the Egg striking first too, which even the D6 S4 roll will achieve something), and he'll strip re-rolls from other Elves. Stick him on a Terradon for extra mobility if you have the points, but I think he'll do just fine on foot.

As you haven't used the Enchanted Shield, you could go Egg, Enchanted Shield, Sword of Striking (although that's a bit more pricey - he'll do just fine with the Egg).

Edit: Oh, and please write up a battle report! Thanks

Solid list, I only have one minor suggestion.

I would suggest dropping the standard from your Skink Cohort. If they get in combat along with a Saurus block the Saurus will provide your +1 CR for the standard. If you want to give them a command model I'd recommend a Musician since small cohorts run away a lot. Alternatively you could drop the command mode altogether add a 25th Saurus to a block. Then you'd hit the points limit on the nose which I think is good luck.

I'd replace the pipes for Jav & Shield on the skirmishers......

I'd add blood roar to your Carno. It's not good if you charge anything in BSB range. But you can chase off a lot more then you'd think. I'd field it all the time if my normal opp didn't tend to run 18" inspiring presence all the time. And even then he's failed on a rerollable Ld 9. Was pretty good feeling and high elves tend to have no fear or terror to counter it straight up. Makes your charge scary and you can easily end up with iceshard for the -1 to Ld or even -2 Ld if you think he's going to march a block infront of your Carno. Haven't vs high elves yet (will be my next battle) so take it with a grain of salt but it was a lot of fun against OnG

I did actually have blood roar on him but I had to pair down to get within the points limit. I'm not sure what I could cut back on to free up enough points for it.

Oh, and I really want to try the carnosaur, but just out of interest how would you run a Cowboy OB in this list, solo, in a Saurus block or buy a CO cavalry unit for him?

Will fortitude of 4 be enough if we roll up B&G? If you think I don't need the banner I think I'd rather drop the cohort altogether and swap them for a second skirmish unit, or maybe divert the points into more Saurus/blood roar for the carno.

I'm really in two minds about the OTS because its pretty worthless if he doesn't bring Phoenix guard.

Slightly adapted. My plan is to frog whichever unit contains his archmage and then send the ripperdactyls to deal with him after I've sorted out any bolt throwers.

When I built the list I got 1997 points. I would drop the spawn champs from your saurus units and drop the sword and board unit to 22 to sneak in a skink chief with a BSB. I'm learning slowly just how handy that thing is. you can even afford a charmed shield on him incase they try to snipe him. Also lets you restrain PF.
or drop the unit to 18, take a scar-vet with BSB, enchanted shield and great weapon for a real beat stick that can easily jump between both packs of saurus.
