8th Ed. 2000 pt beginner list

I haven't been playing very long and it's only the second time I'm going to play a big enough game to be fielding a Slann. The first time I did I failed a crucial leadership test meaning I lost my slann and half of my army in the second turn, so in practice it will be the first time playing a slann . So I would love to get any advice =). I haven't decided on a lore yet either, what should I pick?

1. don't post indiviudal point cost for items. its ilegal and we can probably check the points in our own books if we think something is off.

2. drop teh razordons, they are crap
3. split the sallies in 2 groups. if they are all in 1 group they can only shoot at 1 target, wich means. usually, 1 panic test per turn. if you have 2 groups you can shoot different units
3. get focus of mystery on the slann. 3/7 spells is not that nice. soul of stone isn't that good but keep it if you really need that reroll. ofcourse the reroll could allways mean your slann gets sucked into he warp. get cupped hands of the old ones for miscast protection or something else if you go for lore of life.
4. get lore of life
5.(optional) drop the champions from units. they can be revived with lore of life but generally don't add that much to the unit, but if you have the extra points, go for it.
6. get chameleon skinks. if you face cannons or any for or warmachine you want them out ASAP

Thanks a lot for the tips, I'll definitely take some into account. I will be facing a beastman player without warmachines/cannons though so won't be taking chamo skinks

1. I agree with bibamus.
2. when that said, then remove the razors and buy 4 more TG and go all in on the slann for a better performance- focus mystery, arumination and cogitation.

4. Try to build one list for all games. I'm always building a list for turney purpose so I start with that point value (2250-2500). Then I simple cut out from there if i need to play smaller games. However keep in mind that sometimes all new list must be build since lords can't be used in all gamesizes.
5. The lesser items the more army. Not that you should leave these out, I don't. But I try to keep it down and only take a few things that I'm sure would perform greatly for me.
6. Take the time building the list and enjoy it as much as the game. GL.
