AoS 1k List Help On What To Acquire Next

Hello!

I've recently gotten back into Warhammer after stopping in 4th Edition.

Since 4th Edition had Brettonian / Lizardmen starter box, I chose Lizardmen as my starting army. Now that I've returned to start playing AoS, Seraphon was my logical choice for my first army again.

So far I have:
Start Collecting Box -- Converted a Skink Priest
Skink Box -- I've converted 2 of the Skinks into Skink Chiefs, and had 2 bad molds... leaving me with 20 Skinks.
Skink Star Priest -- the one with all the feathers.

Playing around with the current units, I can make a 1k List, but it doesn't seem to be as effective as I want.

Looking for what to purchase next to round out a potential starter 1k List.

Any help would be appreciated.
 
Welcome aboard! I say get some rippers for the shadowstrike. Best way to go at this point.

A Bastiladon. Trust me as I trusted the old ones back in the days. A bastiladon is what you need. Now, later, in general. :D
 
I would say either a monster Bastiladon/stegadon, or the ripperdactyls or another start collecting box with duo carnis and build towards a bloodclaw. Just depends on you play style.

I was wanting Ripperdactyls for my army anyways, so I went ahead and picked up 3. I wasn't sure if:
A. They'd be strong enough with only 3 units.
B. If they'd be too expensive for 1k points when I could bolster Baseline units more.

After re-reading the book and shadowstrike, this seems to be pretty ideal for the moment.

Next purchase I'm torn between getting either: SC Box and a Basi or just a box of Sauran Warriors and a Basi.

I don't need / want the knights from the SC Box, but a Carno / Trog and 12 Warriors is a good price.

Either way... Skinks are 75% painted, and the warriors are next.

This is the list I've gone with:

1x Old Blood on Carno
1x Skink Chief (General, I think?)
1x Skink Star Priest

10x Saurus Warriors (Spears)
20x Skinks (Boltspitter & Shield)
3x Ripperdactyl

1x Shadowstrike Battalion
-------------------------
1k / 1k
 
Get the SC and the bastiladon. Make one of the knights a scar-vet on cold one. Or even make 2 of them, always good to have more saurus heroes for a bloodclaw. And more carnos is always good!

Is this because it's only 10 models? If so, how many would you want to see before switching to spears?

I am planning on fleshing out the warrior unit a lot more in the future, and thought spears would be more ideal.

Maybe I'll just magnetize the arms, so I can always have a small unit of clubbers ready when I need 'em.

Magetize is the best. Well theoritcally at 20man spears is better BUT after the 1st battle they ll be crippled to the point that clubs probably also make sense so just pick whatever feels best for the usage you wish them to have. At 30 no question though, spears is the way to go
