So I'm going to a 1500 point tournament in February, and I'm trying to figure out the exact list to go for. So far I've had a few thoughts and a couple of test games, and I'm currently leaning towards the following:

Slann Mage-Priest
Focus of Mystery, Battle Standard

Skink Priest
Level 2 (Beasts), Forbidden Rod

24 Saurus Warriors
Full Command, Hand Weapon / Shield

12 Skink Skirmishers
Blowpipes

20 Temple Guard
Full Command

Bastiladon
Solar Engine

2 Salamander Hunting Packs
One additional skink

Total 1497.

I'm also considering going to 20 Warriors and two units of ten Skinks, dropping the Temple Guard and getting some other sort of support unit (Not sure exactly what, though)

Thoughts?

You lack high Strengh attacks. And of course you will be facing 1+ AS.

As magic is freaking random you cannot rely on it.

Try to fit a cowboy in your army.

Okay, based on the above I've tweaked the list:

Slann
- Fcus of Mystery
- Forbidden Rod

Scar-Veteran
- Cold One
- Great Weapon
- Light Armour
- Sacred Stegadon Helm

Skink Chief
- Ripperdactyl
- Spear
- Light Armour
- Enchanted Shield
- Egg of Quango

18 Saurus Warriors
- Full Command

11 Skink Skirmishers

10 Skink Skirmishers

20 Temple Guard
- Full Command
- Glittering Pennant

2 Salamanders
- 2 Extra Handlers

I'm running off memory, so some of the numbers may be off, but that's certainly a close approximation to the list.

High Magic and Temple Guard don't go together, you're just going to blow everybody up.

Wandering Deliberations is very efficient (low miscast) or you do could pick up light or heavens on a normal level 4 and then take becalming or eldritch.

At 1500 you could take a level 4 heavens with becalming, harmonic, and channel staff to use up your lords. You could put the standard of discipline on the TG as a sorta kinda BSB (ld10 cold blooded). I like heavens on an infantry list because it can punish gunlines, chaff, and armor and it works well with harmonic convergence.
