In a couple months I'll be playing in my first doubles tournament with a tomb king player and I'm humming and hawing over what to field.

I don't know everything he's fielding yet. I do know he'll be putting down the casket of souls, 2 tomb scorpions (so I'm not to worried about warmachine hunters) and a catapult.

So far I've been looking at this...

Slann
Lore of Life, Plaque of Tepok, Focus Rumination

10 X Temple Guard
Full Command, Sun Standard of Chotec

20 X Saurus
Full Command

20 X Saurus
Full Command

This leaves me with several hundred points left over and I'm trying to figure out what to do with them. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Razordons or Salamanders would be a nice addition. Maybe a unit of two or three Razordons, or two units of one Salamander.
Plus Extra handlers.

i actually advise against the razordons. they're just as crappy as in 7th and salamanders got that much better for the same points.

the sun sandard sin't really necessary the way i see it. you got lore of life, you can get regen on the TG, +T and even revive, teh banner is too expensive for the ammount of points at your disposal.

i suggest skinks. allways fun. kills big monsters, kills heavy infantry with little armor and even war machines when the scorpions fail to show up.

you could also go for a regular steg if you have enough points remaining for special. it hits like a truck and people don't usually have big monsters killers at so few points unless they are dwarf/empire who just spam cannons.

Thanks, I hadn't thought about that sun standard.

At this point I'm thinking between salamanders or a skrox unit to deal with high armour/high toughness units.

Well, why not take a couple of both? :D

Too costly, gotta be one or the other.

Ah too true. In that case, I'd probably go with the Salamanders. Their effectiveness against armored troops just can't be beaten.

Actually, I'd probably bulk up your Temple Guard unit, 10 seems just a bit too weedy, go 15-16 strong. Throw in some Salamanders, and you'll probably be good.
