Good morning all(from Djibouti), I would like to submit a possible list I want to field in a Doubles Tournament in March with a friend of mine(who will be playing TK).
This is what I have right now, nothing too detailed, and I am pretty flexible in troop regard.
Scar Vet General
-Great Weapon
*open to a cheap build, trying to keep points down
Skink Priest
-lvl 1
*maybe a ring of ruin or a scroll
29 x Saurus Warriors
-Full Command
10 x Skinks
-Javelins and Shields
10 x Skinks
-Javelins and Shields
5 x Chameleon Skinks
5 x Chameleon Skinks
Bastilodon
-Solar version
Ancient Stegadon
-Horns
I am a relatively experienced player, and in all honesty have not lost with my Lizardmen from the 7th edition book in my local meta. But I am currently deployed and have not played a game with the new book, so after doing some reviews made the list above. I think the bastilodon is a nice addition and plays a great support role overall.
My partner has not made his list yet, but upon discussion, he will probably be pushing the magic side of the house. I am considering dropping the Steg for more Saurus/Skinks and a Salamander or two(or to afford a BSB possibly). But I figure an Ancient Steg combined with a Bastilodon makes a scary opposition in the smaller point values, especially when coupled with a large unit of Saurus.
I figure I would need no more than 2-4 dice per turn for the Magic Phase if anything. The main thing is to utilize the magical attacks from the Bastilodon to whittle down any opponents chaff then rank and file. I would also use it to hold a flank or make a supporting charge if need be. Chameleon Skinks would of course try to pop whatever they can on the first turn if possible, thinking war machines and monsters/monstrous cav/inf/beasts. Skinks would just be skinks, misleading and whittling down enemy units as well as maybe holding them up if I can snag a forest or two.
The rules of the tourney dictate that each army of 1200 points must follow the normal rules composition in the BRB. And only one of the armies can have a Lord choice. We discussed him having a level 3(maybe 4 if points are free), a level 2, and the Casket(dice generation). He was also thinking 2 catapults and scorpions(points permitting) and 2 units of rank and file(1 of them probably tomb guard). Or maybe a large unit of rank and file and a unit or two of chariots.
Thoughts?
