8th Ed. 1000 points, Oldblood or Scar-vet?

So, I'm building a 1000 point list, and I'm not sure whether to take a Scar-vet on cold one with a halberd, or Oldblood on foot with GW. Haven't wrote rest of list, but I'm not going to bother taking magic, its just pointless at 1000 points; with only 2 spells, its all getting dispelled.

I'm dabbling in some weird 1K thoughts.

Tooled up Scar vet (general).

20 Saurus FC.
10 skinks w/ pref equipment

Basti w/ ark
Basti w/ solar
Stegadon.


I think that adds up to a bit less than 1000 points, and maybe even leaves room for some swarms to hold up a flank. The sheer amount of monsters here is the fun part, bringing 3 to a small game is something only lizards can do !

Actually the list goes like this, and cannot afford a swarm (though the skinks could be replaced if one wanted them instead).

Scar vet on cold one. - GW, Dragonhelm, Luckstone, Ironcourse Ingot, LA.

20 Saurus, FC.
10 Skinks with jav / shield *

Bastiladon w/ ark of sotek
Bastiladon w/ solar engine

Ancient stegadon w/ sharpened horns

It lacks salamanders and the steg can only be a regular.

However it HAS a tough Scar vet, an ncient stegadon, 2 bastiladons, and one of them for the magic phase though both could be! and and ark of sotek though it could be 2 for more close combat monsters.

the * is an interchangeable unit, in this case it could be replaced by swarms.

I'm leaning towards ignoring a whole 2 fases of the game and going for double Basti w/ snake cage.

It wrecks things at every points value... other than certain Chaos and Dwarf character builds.
I've had the foot version kill half of 2500 pt armies by itself multiple times.
