7th Ed. 1000 Point Starting List

Greetings Folks,

It has been a while since I posted. Life has gotten in the way of things, but everything has smoothed out now. As such, and with the new army book out, my Lizards are coming out of Hibernation. Here is the army list I have. Any suggestions would be great. I dont have any of the special characters so I am going off what I have right now.

This ends up being 1000 points even. Thank you for this wonderful site. I hope to be able to participate in discussions more now that life is evened out and settled down.
 
Thats a pretty solid list.

i suggest is getting rid of diadem of power on the priest. They nerfed it in the new book and you will probably be using all of your skinks power dice anyway. I find that I always do. It would be good with a slann tho.

I would give him the plaque of Tepok. this way you are guaranteed to get a good spell from the priest. ( I hate rolling a 1 and 2 in lore of heavens.

Also, I would give the scar-vet a shield.

I might swap out the Maiming Shield with the Shield of the Mirrored Pool. I'd rather have a 2+ to reflect magic missiles on the Scar-Vet rather than an extra attack at base strength of the Scar-Vet that doesn't benefit from the Burning Blade bonuses.

Otherwise, I'd say maybe drop a couple of skirmishers from the Javelin unit to get another handler for your salamander. It might get you an extra turn after a misfire roll. 10 is still usually a good number for those skirmishers.
 
Ok. I have made the following changes to the list and am posting an updated list.

Switched:
The Maiming Shield for Shield of the Mirrored Pool
Diadem of Power for Plaque of Tepok

Removed:
2 Skinks from each group to put them at 10 total

Added:
3 Saurus Warriors (makes 25 total models in the unit for when i put in priest and general)
1 Skink Handler with the Salamander

So the list looks as follows now

any other suggestions are greatly welcome. I have a game with this list on Wednesday against either VC or Dwarf.
 
Do you have anymore salamanders? I think one doesn't cut it. Two should be alright in a 1,000pts. Do your saraus warriors have spears or hand weapons?
 
I wish I had another Salamander, but I only have one right now. Also, the Saurus have Hand Weapon and Shield. Would the spears be better now that they can have full attacks from the second rank?
 
I would deffinetly go with spears as they has become so much greater than before now that the predatory rule is gone...
