8th Ed. 1,500 Pts newbie annual tournament list

This tournament is only opened to people who has less than 1 year's battle experience.

I have only played around 10 games or so, ranging from 500 points to 2000 points.

The list has been submitted and cannot be changed, I have no idea what army will I be fighting, this is a list that I came up with that I think should be balanced and safe for many situations. It lacks some fast units like CoC Skrox or Terradons tho.

Any suggestions or tactics "heads up" will be greatly appreciated!! Again, as with most WHFB tournaments, the main focus is having fun. This list is not extreme but it should be fun to play

Well the Skinks are probably sub-par. 20 of them wont really do much but die. Remember that they are hit on 3's and wounded on 3's against most enemies. If you see a Hellpit or something worse you should use them to slow it down. Keep the Saurus safe for a couple turns.

TG are also smallish, but maybe they'll be ok at 1500.

Well the tournament has finished. It was only between 12 players. The overall outcome was based upon victory points 50% sportsmanship 20% and painting 30%. You get extra points for themed army too.

I had 3 games, draw in the first two and victory in the last.

You are right about the Skinks dying, they almost fled from a group of night globins lol. My Saurus and TG were tied up in battle so I must protect my Skinks with Life Lore. Luckily I had 12 magic dice in the round that my Skinks are about to die completely. My opponent decided he would save his dice for dispelling something more harmful and let me casted my Throne of Vines, BIG MISTAKE, LOL.

I casted +4 Toughness and Regrowth on them and they held, second group of Skinks charged from flank and the Globins fled out of battle field

On the other game against Ogre Kingdom I wanted to use my Skinks to lure the Ironguts, so it would not charge my Saurus and Temple Guards, which are already in a very tough battle.

Luckily my opponent did went for the Skinks, stand and shoot successfully gave them one wound, and I casted +4 Toughness on my Skinks and even Ironguts were having trouble killing more than a handful of tough 6 Skinks hahaha

Very nice. Glad to hear you didn't lose! Since this was a newbie tourney the guys you played probably haven't had much exposure to Life yet. They likely wont make the same mistakes twice!
