What are you doing today hobbywise?

Been painting some third party Chaos Warriors. Warhost of Malice shall have a presence in my collection. They look so... Pristine.

And it wasn't planned, but the Jarl here looks rather... Familiar. Like he's about to ask whatcha gonna do when Chaos-mania runs wild on you?

GRIMGOR!

Where's Archaon? Oh look, there he is, hiding from Da Biggest Boss around who no doubt wants to make Storm of Chaos canon again :p
I always wanted to buy the model and the one of foot. Sadly the cost was prohibitive and Chaos is a lower priority army for me. This is why I have stupid amounts of Greenskins, Wood Elves, Empire and little amounts of chaos. I am eyeing a Chaos Mammoth but I need to save up a bit more.

Same. Greenskins, Beastmen, and several flavors of Renegade Crowns for me. Need to get some war machines for my Greenskins though... Got chariots, but no artillery.

I was lucky enough that I was able to scratch build a few chariots for a friend and in return he hooked me up with a few hobgoblin spear chukka. I saw some really nice scratch built ones online but haven't had the need to make more. The doom diver was a funny acquisition, the small old one was out of favor when they made the newer and nicer one so I have one of each due to trades. Sadly only one rock lobba, if I want more than one I borrow a dwarf one. I really miss my old play group, so many people trading old models they don't want and usually for cheap trades. Will I build a few units of models for a chariot? Yes I will!

Speaking about centerpieces...
I only need to assemble it. right now the pieces are not glued.
I will post details later

So... Is it going to shoot artillery barrage on different table? :D
Oooh, I miss being able to do that! It was my favorite part about running Guard back in the earlier editions - Basilisk had an ENORMOUS range, which was great if you were playing a big, multiplayer game on a huge table, but not as helpful on smaller tables since the MINIMUM range for indirect fire was THREE FEET, on a table that was usually only four feet across. You had to shove them into the corners and fire oblique angles to do any good past the first turn, and failing that the usual tactic for the laughs was to target the OTHER TABLES in the gaming stores! :D Someone else would be running their Craftworld Eldar against Tyranids or something, and suddenly an artillery barrage from three tables away would drop onto their table with the cheer, "pie plates for everyone!!!" (since the old artillery template was about the size of a pie plate/tea saucer)

So much fun! :hilarious:

Well... sorta.
The apocalypse will be centered around a key point in the battle for Cadia. The main objective will be this ordinatus engine, capable to shoot in the lower orbit, thus threatening the chaos attacking fleet.
BUT anyone that controls the engine, will also be able to use it on the battlefield (select a point, roll an old artillery dice to see if it scatters, use a 5" template and annihilates anything under it).
It's gonna be fun.

We were only able to get in a big gsme like that once. The guy who hosted it has a huge setup in his garage, four massive tables permanently installed. We had six Basilisk reining fire down on chaos marines and daemons, with about 24 leman russ and 12 griffin. Let's not get into how many heavy weapons teams there were... Sadly the end result was a chaos victory. Once the deamons deep struck in we were hurting but it slowed our rate of fire and the chaos marines were able to close in. Noise marines are terrifying in the 3.5 edition codex, as a plus they never got the objective that stopped the chaos marine reinforcements from teleporting in, so we didn't have Abbadon and his retinue show up. Have I mentioned how much I miss that group?
