The never-ending battle against woke Hollywood and SJW infused entertainment media [trigger warning]

Watched it with my niece, not gonna lie it was entertaining. They allowed the females to be female and could be silly or badass and not just acting like angry men. The men weren't just stupid and useless. It was actually something I would watch again.

I have planned to see it too :)

and the songs are really catchy... and for once, they are not "forced" as often happens in too many "musicals"
I've never been a big fan of musicals but old movies with music I love. White Christmas and the like are enjoyable but that is also die to my taste in older music. Danny Kay in the Court Jester was amazing. New so called musicals are lucky to have one decent song and almost always something I don't want to hear. KPop was well done with the scene matching the song and it flowed well. It's nice to have something to watch you don't want to complain about.

I haven't seen KPOP Demon Hunters yet, I plan to give it a shot eventually.

I've sort of pivoted to Anime (which is Japanese not Korean, but the locus of good entertainment is no longer in the West). I was recently introduced to Spy X Family and I'm enjoying that a lot.

In a fictional allegory for East and West Germany in the 1980s, a Western spy and an Eastern assassin both have to establish a fake family for cover. Nearly realizes the other's secret identity. Their adopted daughter is a telepath who knows what is going on, but pretends not to because she doesn't want to go back to the orphanage.

Over time, the fake family gradually develops real feelings for each other.

And I never get tired of watching this clip.

And of course Frieren Season 2 is debuting on the 16th, I'm definitely looking forward to that.

that's indeed very enjoyable. my daughter is into it and i appreciate it too.

Winged monkey is right... all Filoni cares about is his beloved Ahsoka, and it comes as no surprise that his favourite Mary Sue has had her series renewed yet again. And I've always found Jon Favreau to be a far better comic actor than a writer.

Is this the end of woke Star Wars? I'd like to think so - the one potentially positive outcome of all this. Apart from Ahsoka at least Filoni hasn't filled his work so far with identity politics (though it is concerning that he worked on the Acoshyte and approved a lot of the decisions made there).

Is this the end of mediocre-poor Star Wars? I severely doubt it... there's still plenty of mediocre/poor content in the works as the vid discussed, just that said content that will be less woke than before.

Spy X Family is a great read and watch! Lost the time for most Manga as I'm busy with life but this series always is a good use of time.

@NIGHTBRINGER likes to talk about things repeatedly: Chaos Dwarves, Slaanesh, Palpatine memes, his Slannhoods, Settra does not serve, and a few other things.

He used to like to bash Kathleen Kennedy but then that kind of drifted away. Here's to too little, too late.

I would say Netflix suspending the employees who tried to cancel Dave Chappelle is a recent positive sign.

I haven't forgive Netflix for their other sins yet, but this is the first major sign against Wokeness. It doesn't seem like Netflix is taking a principled stand, but they at least seem to realize that Dave Chappelle's "offensive" comedy is making them money and taking the woke stance would lose money.

SPOILER, NOT SPOILER. James Bond dies in No Time to Die, and no Bond fans wants to pay money to see that, so No Time to Die can add to the "Get Woke, Go Broke" list.

Fantastic Beast 3 and Indiana Jones 5 appear poised to join the "Get Woke, Go Broke" list though I'm not 100% if Warner Brothers decision to unperson Johnny Depp who has unproven accusations of domestic abuse while relentlessly defending Amber Heard who has proven and corroborated domestic abuse and also defrauded charities counts as wokeness or is a non-woke example of stupidity and evil.

I am a major DC fanboy, and I like Jason Mamoa, but I am not going to watch Aquaman 2 or any other film with AH in it.
You bring up a lot of interesting examples here, and I think you're touching on something real that a lot of people are noticing. The Netflix situation with Dave Chappelle was definitely a moment where money talked louder than activism. They suspended employees who tried to disrupt a meeting, not for tweeting their opinions despite what some headlines said . But you're right that Netflix ultimately stood by Chappelle because his specials pull massive numbers. They're not taking a principled stand, they're just following the money, which in this case happened to align with pushing back against the loudest voices.

The James Bond example is actually fascinating because it cuts against your point a bit. No Time To Die made over $700 million worldwide and became the third highest grossing Bond film ever adjusted for inflation . So fans absolutely paid to see it, spoiler and all. That one might not fit the "go woke go broke" pattern as cleanly as it seemed.

But Indiana Jones 5? Yeah, that one's a disaster. Cost somewhere around $350-400 million and barely made a dent at the box office . The Phoebe Waller-Bridge factor turned a lot of people off, though honestly the bigger problem was probably just making an Indiana Jones movie with an 80-year-old Harrison Ford and no clear reason to exist.

The Depp situation still makes my blood boil honestly. He lost work over unproven allegations while Warner Bros kept working with Heard even after evidence came out. Mads Mikkelsen is great but that recasting always felt wrong . And yeah, Aquaman 2 is shaping up to be another example. Heard's screen time got cut to like 20 minutes and 11 lines, yet people still can't separate the art from the artist there . I'm with you on skipping it. Sometimes voting with your wallet is all you've got left.
