You know, I thought we had a few thousand more in the past; maybe they were bot accounts that were purged... or equally possible, that I am simply remembering wrong.

that's an incredible performance, but TBH the fact that it's focusing on a discontinued game it's its luck.

There's literally nothing that can make it obsolete if someone is still into WHFB (be it for actual play or mere nostalgia) so it can only grow, while the interest for a current game will follow the progress of the editions.
For example, my tactic thread for AoS General handbook 2017 collected more than 50k views within a lifespan of less than one year, before becoming obsolete. The tutorial by @LizardWizard for the general handbook 2019 ended at almost 63k, and the subsequent one surpassed 90k before (once again) being overcome by new battletomes.

A fair point, but consider that the thread never got a chance to accrue views during the heyday of the game. It was first created 5 years after 8th edition WHFB was discontinued. If instead it had been created in 2014, it would have picked up a lot of views in that first year, and then never become obsolete as you mentioned.

THat's absolutely true; given it was created years later, the amount of views is indeed staggering.
 
This marks post number 88,888 for me! It's my 35th of 36 (second-to-last) perfect set of repeating numbers before I reach forum retirement at 100k...

We have a lot of legitimate forum members who choose not to post and we lizards love our lurkers.

That said, we also have lots of bots. Since the anti-spam protocols are extra sensitive to the posts of new members, we have bots that will sit dormant for well over a year before their first spam post.

A couple months ago, we had a big surge of spam posts from bots but it's been quiet for a while. You guys don't normally see it because as Bob once said, we moderators are like chameleon skinks. No one sees us coming and no one chronicles our valiant deeds.

The Red Devil's security protocols make bot hunting easy work. Long may he ribbit.
