I got rid of 99% of all my 40k models and my collection is almost entirely WHFB models now. Many of those wouldn't fare too well in the 40k universe. I've got but two 40k models remaining. Lucky for me those are the Nightbringer and Deceiver. And since they are 3rd edition pre-shard business, I think I'd do just fine with two Star Gods by my side!

That's only under the new shitty retcon. Like I said, my C'tan models are from 3rd edition, where the Necrons were never able to defeat them. The Necrons remained enslaved to them. I fear no Necron!

Actually, that's your feelings. The original picture does not mention anything about which edition it pertains to. It is you that is making that assumption.

I own a 3rd edition Nightbringer and a 3rd edition Deceiver.

• I have the 3rd edition codex under which they were bought that details their background

I can assure you that their is no mention of them being shards. That shard nonsense wouldn't be a thing until 9 years later. By the time that 5th edition Necron codex dropped, I had fully abandoned 40k and was enjoying 8th edition WHFB.

You are free to have your C'tan shards protect you in this fictitious scenario, I prefer the real thing. #NotMyShards

There is nothing to imply that the picture is in anyway indicative of what edition the scenario is confined to. It could be representative of models that someone might own or just a stock picture; who knows and irrelevant. You're making assumptions as to what the picture means. I'm going by what the caption actually says (and what it doesn't say).

The picture is irrelevant. It's interpretation requires too many assumptions. The picture is not instructive as to how the "game" is played, the caption is. And the caption does not specify an edition.

Disney Star Wars taught me a lot about canon and "current lore". You can have Disney Star Wars, I'll keep the Expanded Universe (or Legends as you might know it). You can have AoS, I'll keep WHFB. In the same sense, you can keep this shitty new shard version of the lore, I'll keep the good stuff.

You are free to interpret your C'tan as being shards. Just don't be jealous that mine are better!

In actuality, your necrons are made of plastic with plastic bases. My C'tan are made of metal (pewter) with solid brass bases. Metal is stronger. My C'tan will win the bludgeoning contest.

In my lore, The Silent King and the necrons shattered the C'tan and enslaved them. My necrons are not subject to your influence, and we are legions.

It is "possible" but extraordinarily unlikely that so much force would be applied simultaneously on one guy. That's the beauty of having two C'tan as protectors is not only can they snap star systems out of existence, but they are concentrated power.

Besides, I'm pretty sure the Deceiver is the being best equipped to keep me hidden.

The Chaos gods are essentially the warp equivalent of the C'tan, but they two are confined to their own universes. So not really a direct threat. As for the Emperor, he is stuck in his vegetable-like state.


While nothing is guaranteed, I'd fancy my chances.

It is absolutely guaranteed that sooner or later those 2 ctan will be vanquished by something.
it is also highly probable that in your lifespan you will be fine.

From that point it's highly probabile that i will be fine too. It is established that not all worlds sre cadia... many solar systems are left untouched by threats for whole generations.
In many planets the problems are solved by a single space marine.
I have a considerable force at my disposal, including primarchs, a titan, a chaos demigod, a legion of knights and many more things. Nothing short of a massive full-scale invasion by nids or a chaos black crusade (which happens once every thousand years) would threaten me in my lifespan.

A thousand marines is s considerable force, but to draw nids you must have a series of systems with hundreds of planets and billions of life forms.
