The never-ending battle against woke Hollywood and SJW infused entertainment media [trigger warning]

Some of it's subjective and there is some stuff in between.

But even outside of Shrek, I would say that Dreamworks in general, seems to make very good and very bad movies. Very few okay movies. Maybe Shrek 3 qualifies as an okay movie.

I don't think it has anything to do with politics or current trends. It just falls out that way.

One thing is for certain... they largely seem to nail their direct sequels (I would definitely say Shrek 2, Kung Fu Panda 2 and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish are better than the original films... except the janky anime/comic-book fight scenes in The Last Wish, which contrast horribly with the fight scenes in other Dreamworks films).

I don't I like How to Train Your Dragon 2 as much as the first one, but the sequel was still pretty good.

I agree with you that all three of your examples were better than original.

I'm not able to differentiate between Kung Fu Panda 1 & 2. They both are excellent.

Totally agree on Shrek and Puss in Boots (well, Puss in Boots is not even a contest)

I always thought the planned new Harry Potter series was going to be pointless, but if they are definitely going through with this then it's dead on arrival:

Here are, ironically, some quotes from black characters to describe this:

There a bunch of videos covering the new Disney+ Daredevil show, but you can sum it up in two ways.

1) According to people who have watched it NOT on the Disney payroll. The Daredevil show Disney+ put out is the best Disney+ show released in a very long time.

2) The Daredevil viewership numbers are not very good. It is below are below a lot of shows that were considered embarrassing flops. Less than Agatha witch show.

Marvel fans are so turned off from Disney that people won't watch even good shows.

I was a big fan of the Netflix Daredevil show, but I'm not going to watch this show.

I don't want to engage piracy and I don't want to pay money for Disney+. Ergo, I cannot watch this show while obeying these two rules.

It's nice to know we don't live in a world that only has woke movies and good movies.

There is a third type of movie. Non-woke movies that are still crap. The saddest thing is that as Critical Drinker points out, this cost ten seasons of Firefly.

I like Midnight's Edge. I get the impression that most of you guys are lukewarm on Midnight's Edge. I'll admit he's not as funny as Critical Drinker. Anyway, here is Midnight's Edge recent Snow White analysis video.

One comment on the Youtube Video stands out to me.

The 1937 Snow White saved Walt's Disney and the 2024 Snow White may doom Bob Iger's Disney.

A fun thought, but I think Disney hasn't hit rock bottom and addicts often need to hit rock bottom before they can take the steps necessary to change their life. The addiction in question to political messaging.

They love to put non-Europeans into European folklore but why?

Midnight's pointed out towards the end of the video that they can draw on the folklore around the world. If the goal is to increase representation, instead putting an African American actress into a remake of The Little Mermaid which was created by a Danish writer, why not put an African American actress into a remake of something from African or Caribbean folklore? There is no rule that we can only have movies with Western stories.

At this point, I have to assume that some high ups in Disney actively hate Western culture, and at the same time they are racist or lazy to do research into non-Western folklore.

I'm sure SOMEONE would rather see Kathleen Kennedy get fired. But in this case, Amazon might be able to course correct. I don't think Disney can course correct even if they got ride of Ms. Kennedy.

She was not fired, tbh... she was just shifted to a different position, she's still there.
And we must see who will be one that will "take care" of james bond's franchise.

In war, royalty and other leaders get a lot of privileges even in defeat.

There is a lot of euphemism and corporate double-speak.

She was fired. They just have to pretend otherwise.

Maybe James Bond's franchise can be saved, maybe not. But my interest point, I am just happy to see Amazon is course correcting on ruining classic fantasy. MAYBE this will pave the way for a proper Conan show.

In 3 to 5 years. Large companies take a while to course correct, but at least they started turning the tanker around.

EDIT: I could be wrong though. I've been wrong in the past, it is likely I will be wrong again at some point in the future.

My main problem is that i fear her demotion is more due to internal struggles for power rather than a change of course.
The producer of the incoming Amazon's james bond film will be Amy Pascal. The mind behind Ghostbuster 2016.

You understand why I'm not exactly thrilled...

I know we could never trust Amazon with anything more lucrative and important than the corpse of a skunk, but still the wave of woke BS continues...

Sometimes Amazon can sneak something good through if C-Suite executives aren't looking too closely.

The Live Action Tick, Invincible, two out of three seasons of The Boys.

Jack Reacher (though I haven't checked this out myself yet).

Huzzah, WOKE movies are dead. Long live SLOP movies!
