Two part answer to this. 1st part is that I love Galaxy Quest and it hits all the right nostalgia buttons with proper tongue in cheek. 2nd I am not the biggest fan of soda in general due to it being sweeter than I enjoy. That being said if I am going to drink it I don't drink diet versions as they tend to taste vile to me. Dr. Pepper is probably the only one that tastes decent but still diet tastes off.It would explain why Q showed up on Lower Decks which deliberately focuses on unimportant Star Trek characters but Q knows they are the focal point of a show.
I have only seen a couple Lower Decks episodes. I found them moderately entertaining. From what I can tell, while it spoofs Star Trek, it spoofs out of love not derision. Like Galaxy Quest, only not as good. I think Lower Decks is not as filling or satisfying but not a bad product if you temper your expectations appropriately.

I've never seen Lower Decks but thats more that I have so much backlog of older media I want to see that it's a few years out.![]()
In my opinion, Galaxy Quest is one of the greatest parody media ever made.
Lower Decks is much worse, but I still think it's entertaining.
Something doesn't have to be a timeless classic for me to watch it and not regret it afterwards.
