My theory is that Anakin would have never turned to the dark side if Qui-Gon had lived and trained him as his padawan.

My theory is that Anakin would have never turned to the dark side if Qui-Gon had lived and trained him as his padawan.

I believe this too - Qui-Gon was able to provide the father-figure role that Anakin, as the son of a single mother, had innately been seeking through his young life. After his death, the only one who was able to provide anything similar was Palpatine, so if Qui-Gon had not been killed, Anakin would not have been so inclined to seek guidance from Palpatine, and thus would have avoided the latter's attempts to manipulate him.
