GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

Interesting. It looks like it. Maybe GW is finally getting around to updating Skaven as well as Lizards?

Others have hypothesised the same but I severely doubt it at this point, given that GW released a 3rd Edition Battletome for Skaven a while back with Deathmaster Snikch being the only model updated. More than likely GW will wait until 4th Edition before giving Skaven a full model update, as at this point they're still working on the Cities of Skubmar range and after that there will be only a small window before 4th comes out, which more than likely will feature more campaign books that break the game to justify GW releasing a new edition.

I suspect it's more likely that either Skaven are getting a Warcry warband (which might well be a Night Runner model update as they'd fit well into such a game, like Chameleon Skinks were updated with a Warcry warband for Lizardmen), or they're one of the factions to feature in the next Dawnbringers book, alongside Orcs, and will be getting a single model of some sort for that.

But then, in 2nd Edition GW gave Lumineth and Slaanesh 2 updates because GW, so who knows?

I don't know what to make of those Cities of Skubmar infantry and cavalry, but that Manticore looks great (perhaps I'm biased because I've always been a sucker for a Manticore). Shame it's for the dull, hollow AoS remake of the already dull and hollow Empire, but the girl-power heroine rider can likely be replaced with something from a cool army easily enough. Interesting to see how they've made it look completely different to the one released for Storm of Magic back in the Fantasy days (that happened to have a Chaos Lord riding it), probably as a way to make it more benign-looking. But then, given that Manticores are canonically Chaos-made creatures, they can take any form really.

The Skaven warband looks great, I imagine these will serve as a nice template for some new Plague Monks in time, but until then it's a pity I don't care about Underworlds now, not since GW started releasing two starter sets a year in the ultimate display of corporate retardedness.

The Bretonnian Paladin looks super, a worthy successor to the old model, but what a shame it's Forge World Resin again. I really don't understand why GW have gone this route, when plastic serves just as well for making character models now and Forge World was created in the first place specifically to make the frakhuge models GW couldn't make in plastic or metal at the time, and still do with the Titans and stuff.

Also, I wasn't expecting much but I was expecting more than just one model at this stage. I'm getting concerned again that TOW isn't arriving in the 40th anniversary of Warhammer year after all.

And that Epic Battles Horus Heresy game... just why? Again like with Adeptus Titanicus, it would have been far better to make it a 40K game so that there will be some actual faction variety and some cool Xenos races, rather than both sides fielding the same old Imperial rubbish. Did anyone else know that the only reason The Horus Heresy exists in the first place only because, when designing the original Adeptus Titanicus, the moulding department could only afford to make one Titan design, and GW had to concoct a reason for giving both factions the same models in the starter set? No such excuse exists now.

But, it does sow seeds of hope that if TOW is successful, GW will consider resurrecting Warmaster to play it in Epic scale as well.

So the game is only viable for 6 months?

Have we seen an previews for new plastic TOW models? Maybe the rumored plastic models will be the old kits that already exist. Wouldn't that be funny!?

Personally, i agree.
The models are good, even the basic ones (cavalry, infantry), but it's the faction as a whole that i find uninspiring.

That manticore seems almost wasted upon them, but i think the faction could be developed in a more interesting way, following a similar route. Bring back pegasi units!

Certainly it seems that way - it's gone from releasing one starter set plus six other warbands in the first few years, to two starter sets a year with two-four new warbands plus recycled ones from the previous starter box I think. @Killer Angel and any other AoS people, can you confirm, as I've not really bothered in keeping up with Underworlds releases now?

What is certain though is GW have been messing around with it to make sure they get more money out of it like the Ferengi they are.

The Warhammer Facebook account has confirmed that there supposedly will be new models in both plastic and resin, and looking at the Horus Heresy, which has seen mostly plastic units being released, I am not giving up hope yet of seeing new plastic models released, but it would be just like GW to just re-release the old plastic models and call that their required quota of plastic releases, then make everything new in thrice-accursed Forge World Resin. That's just the sort of BS they would happily pull on us.

As much as we love to hate GW, they are the company that created the game we play and enjoy.

worth remembering!

I really like the manticore, but as said by many not the faction you'd expect it to be in. Perhaps if a Dark elf was riding it... who are part of the Cities of Sigmar o_O

Grrr, !mrahil

I wonder how many of the people that created the game I play and enjoy (8th edition WHFB) still work at GW today. Plus, GW also scrapped that game, so it's open season in my books. :D

I see the announcement of TOW as them saying that they’ve seen and heard players like you and me (of which there must be many for them to even bother I imagine).

While they scrapped it sure, they appear to be taking a lot of reasonable steps to bring it back which I think we should be happier than we appear to be.

They said what they thought they needed to say to bolster upcoming sales. No more, no less. I have little faith in modern day GW as a company. Shady practices and extreme greed.

Odds are about 99.99% that I'm sticking with 8th edition Warhammer Proper. The fate of TOW means very little to me.
