To be honest I like the background for 7th too, as it looks more like a Medieval tapestry, very much like the 6th Edition cover evokes a Dark Ages woodcut.
 
Apparently Starcraft II is now free to play apart from the Zerg and Protoss single player campaigns and co-op commanders beyond level 5. To quote Jim Raynor, "Sounds fun."

I might download it onto my gaming laptop and give it a try when I get a minute, and see whether I prefer it or Starcraft 1.

The problem (personally speaking) is the lack of time. For free or paying for it, i cannot afford to dive in that rabbit's hole.
