There is a thing called the Uncanny Valley. Making an animal or a robot more human looking makes it cuter and more emotional acceptable...up to a point.

This is why C3PO is considered cute and friendly and this robot baby is considered nightmare inducing.

See there is an Uncanny Valley for pandas. Is Chucky scary because of the Uncanny Valley or is he scary because he does bad things?

Who knows?

But you see racoons are in the Panda Uncanny Valley and they eat garbage and destroy things and they are utterly hideous!
