Blog Suds Paint Blog of Conquest: The Last Arguments of Kings

Great work mate, the wings and mask really give that Witch Doctor vibe.
Looking at the total model I saw that the weapon is very long. It looks like he needs it to reach warriors on the ground, but to me it seems very impractical to wield. As a Witch Doctor would his attacks not come from magic?

In the closeup I spot some different mold lines on the wings and his arms. They are pretty visible, would be a shame to leave them on.

Yeah, there's definitely clean up to be done, wings and weapon are just blue tac'd on atm. I'll be cleaning those up in a few days, this is just the placement test.

As for the weapon, yeah, never really understood it from a practical stand point. Like, I get that the W'adrhŭn are supposed to be super strong and such, but just from a handling stand point it just seems...odd. I had the perfect bit to use as the base for a staff, but I can't find it (still searching as mentioned). I seem to misplace bits a lot, I still can't find my spare Troglodon head :(

But yeah, if I can help it, this won't be the weapon he wields, just gotta find that bit lol

Nothing terribly exciting to report for my Conquest collection other than that I began working once again on my Apex a little. Not much really as I just wanted to work a little bit on the eyes and teeth. Might get into it a little more in the next few days, but not a huge focus atm.

I also built my other Apex that had been sitting in its box, thought it time to just build it so i can begin visualizing the scheme on it. Decided, at the moment, to go with the more dynamic posed head option.

The Blue Jay themed one will have the Matriarch on it while the second one will have the Predator on it, or that's what I'm thinking as of now!

Nice touch, the eyes seem to glow. Very nice effect.

Keep up the good work

I am going between AoS projects and Conquest projects, so here is what i worked on tonight so far!

I am working on my second Apex Predator for Conquest. Atm working on Base Colors & blending of the feet, hands and jaw areas a bit. Today I'll probably work on the feathers some, gonna be a base color of Deathclaw Brown, I think? Still debating that, but I think that would be a good starting off point.

Eventually this Apex will have a custom Predator rider for it

I had said previously I probably wouldn't start this for awhile... well.......apparently... my ADHD had other plans lol

More to come

I wanted to share the current Progress on my Female Apex Predator before diving in today :D

Lots of blending yesterday to bring the head and neck/body together, both with base/layer paints and then dry brushing. I'm really a fan of the black based head that then fades into the more brown body, I wasn't sure how Inwss going to like it at first

More to come!20220501_125425.jpg 20220501_125519.jpg 20220501_125836.jpg

Wow suds, those feathers look very nice. I love the brown red and yellow it transitions really great.
The yellow and red on the legs look to me like a bit harder transition, less smooth.

Thank you! I have an update on the head coming soon, really love how it is coming together!

And yea, 100%, but that'll change as I shift focus to the non feathered spots/head, no worries :(

Amazing work on your Apex predator... can't wait to see both of them completed!
