I don't want movie theaters to die. Most of my friends prefer to stream stuff to their homes but I still like the movie theater experience.
I thought the Batman was pretty good. Far from perfect, but I enjoyed it a lot.
The main flaw was it's unnecessary long run time. I would have cut down on the time lapse in every suspense scenes by about a third where Batman slowly walks through a dark hallway or slowly pick up one of the Riddler's clues. That would probably save ten minutes off the movie.
If you haven't watched it yet, the end credit scene is just the Riddler's computer screen saying "good bye". Don't sit through the credits, there are no post credit Easter eggs. There are a couple Easter eggs but they are in the main movie.
It's 2 hours 55 minutes with the credits. About 30 minutes longer than it needed to be.
It had one cringe-inducing woke line, but that's it. This movie was mostly wokeness free.
I'm not sure how it stacks to the other Batman movies, I will have to digest it. I don't want to talk about it in detail until more people have seen it.
The Critical Drinker's review is pretty spot on, but in my opinion he was too harsh on Collin Ferrell did an excellent job playing the Penguin, even with all the body and facial prosthetics. It is a little odd that they used special effects to make a handsome fairly young guy look like an ugly portly middle aged man when they could have easily hired an actor who was an ugly portly middle aged man.
