GW News: LAS VEGAS OPEN 2025

LET'S GO TO BUILD-A-DAEMON WORKSHOP!

Can you imagine if GW ever releases a new DP kit with at least two choices per god and for Undivided that looks almos as cool as this? Truly a worthy opponent. I'd buy one, just for studying in the name of The Great Plan, clearly.

In just a few hours we'll have news for AoS, 40K, HH, Necromunda and Kill Team.

Here some time zones:

I'll be surprised if AoS news is more than just updated battletomes for Idoneth and Fyreslayers. I guess they could reveal the new narrative to shift the meta to another realm...

Surprised. It's Nighthaunts and DoK. Nighthaunts get some crossbow spooky boiz. Both sides get a new hero. The DoK sculpt looks a bit dull to me.

I'm excited about the Eldar updates. I don't play 40K, but I've always liked the look of them and the updated Aspect units look cool. However, the updated Maugan Ra model feels a little busy. The hood and tattered robe obscure parts of the model in an awkward way to me.

They did state they wanted to change the realm every year or so so they oculd have seasons. Given that that's going to happen with the GHB they should probably start creating hype yeah.

Also the new DoK + Nighthaunt feels a bit weird. Why can't they release an army box, and some new models, for one of the factions that hasn't had one yet? Neither of these factions is exactly lacking in recent updates.

And giving the nighthaunt shooting just seems a rather odd decision. Really curious what their stats are going to be cuz the combination of powerfull ranged + the flying and relativly high movement of Nighthaunt seems like it could potentially be extremely powerfull.

That would be awesome, but not what I am expecting given there have been no teases or rumours for Beastmen yet.

I'm expecting a lot more than just battletomes for both of those armies, in part because both of those armies need more, and mostly because if it was just Battletomes, GW would have announced such in the article that announced their Battlebox. Instead they simply said more news is coming, which I'm expecting to mean new models as well, unlike the moans and groans of the doomsayers and naysayers on TGA that have already given up.

Oh bugger I've said what I'm expecting now, haven't I? Fate had better not cheat me now of all times!

In particular given the former has already been featured in a boxed game, but then I thought at the New Year's Day preview it looked suspiciously like one of them.

And they certainly don't deserve a new Battletome of all things given Morathi's ridiculously dumb rule that allows her to clone herself, making the army far too strong compared to what it deserves to be.

Not to mention that they have a lot of units already, they don't exactly need another one. Still, something new to add to my Warhammer: Spirits of the Dead army list.

Also does anyone else think this was originally intended to be a Flesh-Eater Courts model that was repurposed into a Nighthaunt? Because the hunched back and long straggly hair are far more fitting for the former than the latter.

Fyreslayers and Idoneth had better get a lot of new units later in the preview to make up for this ridiculous leapfrog operation conducted by GW probably out of faction bias.

EDIT: The preview's now ended. That was pretty crap in the end. GW seem to have lost all sense of cohesion with Age of Skubmar now they're getting fanatical about Craftworld Eldar.

What, the scribe-type guy? Probably a design they started on during the recent vampire wave and decided to repurpose or re-use.

The back does look a bit odd for a ghost though, bit too solid. Other than that it's fine I guess.

Honestly, there's a long long list of factions that need a few new units at this point just to make up for GW's weird biasses (what is with their obsession with undead and aelves in AoS? At the least the large amount of SCE makes sense as they're the literal posterboys of the game)

Let's speak about nighthaunts.

to be fair,
1) Nighthaunts battletome is terribly outdated, they are actually a very low tier army
2) They have a nice amount of units, yes, but they absolutely lack any ranged attacks, while other death armies have that option.

all in all, Nighthaunts need some love.

  1. I personally wasn't complaining about Nighthaunt getting an update, you're right, they do need a 3rd book given they were one of the first factions to get a book in 2nd Edition (though I realise that comment was targeted more at @Canas)
  2. While I can understand that point, being completely lacking in shooting attacks could formerly have been seen as a gimmick of the Nighthaunt army, just as Fantasy Dwarfs were not given any cavalry or monsters. Giving them a missile unit now reduces their uniqueness as an army and GW will have to look for another way to make up for that.

Also the last miniature revealed. First of a new warband for Kilteam:

I like the look, curious to see how the other members look like. They are pirate-y themed :)

Grrr, Imrahil

While the nighthaunt need a rule update and new tome there's 3 things I don't really like about these new models.
1) They already have plenty of models. And they especially don't need another "elite" infantry-style option or minor foot hero.
2) We just got a whole bunch of death stuff, and we keep seeing death stuff in nearly every major update for the past few years. Sure it switches between their subfactions, but death is such a united grand allegiance that it still all feels very repetitive and similar.
and 3) giving them shooting just seems odd as it goes against one of their main gimmicks. It also makes me worry that this unit won't be particularly balanced (either too powerfull or too weak) because it doesn't fit in nicely with the others and might create some weird interactions.

these are sensible objections.
Let's say that i'd rather have tricks and options to make their charges more reliable. Once there was a battalion that gave a +1 to charge, but as now they are an army that is built to deep strike and must rely on rolling a 9.

So, while i welcome ranged attacks, it doesn't solve that particular problem and certainly increases the difficulty to make choices in the army composition.
Thinking on it, a monster would have been nicer.

Yeah, if you're going to add something to the nighthaunt a big model like an alternative to the black coach or a big spooky thing like a variant of lady olyander, would've been better.

Or even just some normal sized cavalry. Seeing as they only have 1 cavalry unit (and 3 cavalry heroes)
