I am very much looking forward to your predictions of who wrote which story ;)

Grrr, Imrahil

I only pegged two. And one of the pieces is mine, so I'm 100% sure who wrote that one. I'm approximately 99% sure I pegged @Y'ttar Scaletail. @Paradoxical Pacifism didn't participate in this one, I bet I could smell his writing a mile away.

I am reasonably certain the remaining roster is @Imrahil , @Lizards of Renown, Killer Angel, @pendrake , and @thedarkfourth.

LoR and KA said they were entering. Imrahil and Pendrake implied they were entering and TD4 commonly enters contests without fanfare. TD4 has entered more short story contests than anyone else, so he's a safe bet. If I'm right, this is his 20th contest entry. Y'ttar is number 2 at 17.

If I'm wrong, it's possible but unlikely one of these writers is instead @DeathBringer125 or @Warden or @Tk'ya'pyk.

I will be very surprised if one of the authors is not one of the names I listed above.

@Carnikang has been recently gracing us with our presence (and admittedly I have not pegged down his writing style yet) but I doubt he would have entered without telling us.

@Infinity Turtle also is unlikely to enter without telling us. I also believe I could spot a story with her finger prints on it almost immediately.

So I guess I'm going to assume that this contest is me, Y'ttar, TD4, KA, LoR Imrahil, and Pendrake.

Quick question.

last time we had a tie-breaker poll, but there was a 3 pieces tie, while in the past we already closed the comp with 2 winners ex-aequo.

with 1 day to the end, IF there are no more votes, should we close the comp with double gold medal?

Personally i'd say yes, but i would like to hear your opinions.

Scalenex did this with mine and @thedarkfourth's story a couple of competitions ago. I think it's fair.

Three I admit was a bit much.

As promised, here are my guesses to author identities.

Hmm, my guesses were thrown off because I incorrectly deduced who was in this contest and who was not. Here are my guesses. (well five was a certainty)

Story One: Pendrake

Story Two: Imrahil

Story Three: Lizards of Renown

Story Four: Killer Angel

Story Five: Me

Story Six: Y'ttar Scaletail

Story Seven: Aginor

Okay, so I shared my guesses as promised. Now if you don't have any more reviews to write, you better all get to work on developing Westhammer or writing poetry for the winter contest!

Very good, just one off. ;)

Grrr, Imrahil

Thanks, guys!
It was fun to write so I am happy that it was also fun to read. :)

@Scalenex how could you tell the story was mine?
Was it just familiarity because of the lot of proofreading you did for me? Or did something stand out, like a typical error or choice of words?

I thought I had changed my style quite a lot for this one.

I used meta thinking.

Because there was an issue keeping the font when Killer Angel transferred this from a word document to a forum post.

Very few L-O writers send over a word document rather than write or paste a story directly into a private message.

Since you are practically the only one who submits short stories that way, it seemed obvious.

I looked for secondary confirmation. Your short story had a similar style to your longer piece "The First and the Last" (which I did a lot of proofreading for) so I figured it was a safe guess.

You said you thought your changed your style. You like magical mysteries, evocative battle scenes, and periodically changing your point of view character. All of this was in your short story. I would say the story was very Aginor.

Ah, ok!

Yeah, I normally wouldn't use word but I do it when I send texts for proofreading because word allows for more markups and stuff.

The format I used in this story was alignment btw., the Ulgu parts were left-aligned, the Hysh parts right-aligned. On parallel lines so to speak.

Well... yeah. I guess you are right. I really do like that stuff. Those are the things I like about Fantasy the most. :)

...and Chaos Dwarfs went defeated in this one.
Of course, @NIGHTBRINGER could point out they were not included in the title... :p
Speak of the devil and he shall appear. upload_2021-12-2_20-58-54.png

You are correct, I would very much indeed point that out. Chaos Dwarf titled stories remain undefeated and undisputed!

One might also query whether or not The Sleeping Giant contained a Chaos Dwarf at all or rather a mention of them and a lost relic of their past.

Additionally, one might wonder if the Join the Army story might have captured sole possession of first place if it had instead been named Join the Army of the Chaos Dwarfs.
