The never-ending battle against woke Hollywood and SJW infused entertainment media [trigger warning]

Ah, you were faster than me... :p

Was Avatar woke. It was preachy and simplistic,
"Military bad. Trees good."

Even if Avatar was woke, this would make them the exception that proves the rules.

Avatar has not one, but two sequels in post-production. Two more in the pipelines. I am probably not going to watch them. Not because I'm offended by supposed wokeness but because the story is flat and boring. Avatar floated to success on being a technical marvel. Now all the stuff that was ground breaking in Avatar is par for the course for block buster movies.

Do you remember any of the character names in Avatar? Any memorable quotes?

It never set off my woke detector. A film can (and pretty much must) have a moral message, but the story experience has to come first. The issue with woke films is that the story experience always takes a back seat to the propaganda. It's the difference between actually caring for something or simply virtue signaling that you do.

The CGI in that film still holds up better than a lot of the stuff today. Plus, even if the stuff in the original Avatar is par for the course now, it doesn't mean that the stuff in Avatar 2, 3,... will be. Don't get me wrong, I'm a little skeptical of 4 sequels in the works, but I'm always hesitant to bet against James Cameron.

Well, it looks like they're wokifying the Wheel of Time TV series...

The book centers around a man (Rand Al'Thor) and they've changed this to centering around one of the female characters... Some of what she says in the trailer makes me think they may be changing a LOT of the storyline...

I haven't touched the Wheel of Time thread. Even if wokeness is not involved, live action adaptation of popular novels are often disappointing. If I am remotely interested in reading the books and watching the live action adaptation I usually want to read the original material first.

But before I tackle Wheel of Time I want to finish the Song of Ice and Fire and read a couple Conan novels. There is a bunch of stuff that is leaving me with less time to read that I would like.

I have all the Conan stories / novels written by Howard. Pretty enjoyable stuff.

Definitely do it this way round. You can see from the trailer they are changing the story a lot,

So does George R.R. Martin. ;)

Good one.

So Kathleen Kennedy got her contract renewed.

But at the same, most of her pet projects are being delayed indefinitely.

Maybe her contract renewal is a golden parachute, where she gets money but no real creative control. Maybe it marks something more sinister. She tried to give a Star Wars project to Leslye Headland, former assistant to Harvey Weinstein.

Connecting the dots, it seems possible that Kathleen Kennedy has a dossier of black mail material on powerful men. That is my tin foil mouse ears theory.

Or maybe the Disney execs are really really dumb.

At this point I'm having trouble believing the Bobs are this stupid.

My financial boycott of Disney Star Wars continues!

I believe there is a plan in the works to make a Pirates of the Caribbean movie without Jonny Depp. I've obtained some exclusive related behind the scenes footage.
